Da Nang develops friendly relations and cooperation with Canadian localities and partners

On November 4, the leaders of the People's Committee of Da Nang city had a meeting with Mr. James Nickel, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Vietnam during his visit and working visit to Da Nang. This visit and working visit helps develop the friendly and cooperative relations between localities, Canadian partners and Da Nang in various fields, especially tourism and green and sustainable economic development.

At the meeting, Vice Chairwoman of Da Nang City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi introduced the general potential and development advantages of the new city. Da Nang currently has a large space, has a lot of room for development and is competitive in the region. The model of Free Trade Zone, International Financial Center with specific mechanisms will create a new breakthrough for Da Nang not only in the Central region but also spread across the country.

The Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City emphasized that after the merger, industry is considered a key industry, creating new growth momentum alongside the service and tourism industries. The city is also attracting strong investment in the fields of semiconductor technology, electronic chips, AI, IoT, gene technology and stem cells; aiming to become one of the major socio -economic centers of the country and Southeast Asia by 2030.

The leaders of the People's Committee of Da Nang city hope that the Canadian Embassy in Vietnam and the Ambassador himself will introduce and coordinate to organize delegations to learn about the investment environment and cooperation opportunities in Da Nang city in the fields of education and training, green transformation, environment, gender equality and urban governance.

At the same time, Ambassador James Nickel will act as a bridge to help develop friendly relations and cooperation between localities, Canadian partners and Da Nang city in various fields, especially tourism and green, sustainable economic development; help promote and mobilize Canadian investors to survey the investment environment and seek business opportunities in Da Nang city.

Also at the reception, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Vietnam James Nickel expressed the deep condolences of the Government and people of Canada to the government and people of Da Nang for the damage and loss caused by the recent floods. Ambassador James Nickel also highly appreciated the city's efforts in responding to and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters, demonstrating the resilience and humanity of the people of the Central region.

Ambassador James Nickel shared that Canada has many strengths in the fields of renewable energy, infrastructure development, artificial intelligence, education and training of high-quality human resources - areas that can become potential cooperation directions with Da Nang in the coming time.

The Ambassador affirmed that in his position, he will continue to promote and deepen the cooperative relationship between Canadian businesses and organizations with Vietnam in general and Da Nang city in particular, especially in areas of mutual interest.
