In recent times, in the face of the complicated developments of fraud, online crimes and cybercrimes, Vietnam has completed the legal framework for telecommunications and network security management to create effective tools to prevent violations in cyberspace, aiming for a safe and transparent network environment for the people.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang affirmed this at the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held on the afternoon of November 6 in Hanoi.
Responding to a reporter's question about the protection of Vietnamese citizens during raids on online fraud sites in Myanmar, Ms. Pham Thu Hang said: According to information from the Vietnamese Embassies in Thailand and Myanmar, as of October 22, 2025, more than 70 Vietnamese citizens have moved from Myanmar to Thailand due to the Myanmar authorities launching a campaign to raid establishments related to criminal activities and online fraud.

Immediately after receiving the information, the Vietnamese Embassies in Myanmar and Thailand proactively worked with local authorities to find out information, coordinate to screen and verify information to protect citizens in accordance with local and Vietnamese laws.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has directed embassies and relevant units to immediately coordinate with domestic and local authorities to carry out necessary consular procedures and support citizens to return home as soon as possible.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs once again recommends that Vietnamese citizens be vigilant against invitations to go abroad to do "easy work with high salaries," without requirements for degrees or qualifications, without signed contracts, and without going through businesses or labor sending organizations...
“Citizens need to carefully research the job content, unit, expected work location, personal information of the referrer, insurance regime, benefits... to make the right decision before going abroad to work,” Ms. Pham Thu Hang emphasized.
In case of need of assistance, citizens and their relatives can contact the hotline of the Consular Department (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and the Vietnamese Embassies in Myanmar and Thailand.
The Foreign Ministry Spokesperson said that Vietnam has clearly demonstrated its joint actions with the United Nations and member states to combat cybercrime, which has been developing complicatedly recently, through the signing ceremony of the Hanoi Convention and recent high-level conferences.
Prestigious international media have also reported and commented on Vietnam's proactiveness, pioneering, connectivity and commitment in this activity. At the same time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant ministries, branches and agencies are also actively discussing with partner countries to establish cooperation mechanisms to improve the effectiveness of Vietnam's citizen protection work, and more effectively combat organized crime and high-tech crime in other countries.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also directed Vietnamese representative agencies abroad to monitor the situation and prepare necessary plans, closely coordinate with domestic and local agencies to promptly deploy citizen protection measures./.
