Within the framework of the Media Ambassador program on biodiversity conservation, yesterday afternoon (September 26), in Lam Dong province, the Department of Forestry, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in coordination with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) organized a seminar with the theme "Developing ecotourism associated with biodiversity conservation".

Speaking at the seminar, Mr. Trieu Van Luc, Deputy Director of the Forestry Department, said that with a forest area of over 14.7 million hectares, Vietnam's forests are home to tens of thousands of species of wild animals and plants. Forests are also the living space of about 25 million people who depend on forests; mainly ethnic minority communities with cultural characteristics and national identities associated with forests. This is a great potential for developing the multi-use values of forest ecosystems.
Currently, forests, national parks... have been and are places to organize tourism activities, sightseeing destinations, experiences, and observations of wild flora and fauna. Thereby, creating livelihoods for people, especially those in the "buffer zone": "We not only preserve and protect forests but also promote the role and benefits of biodiversity conservation to serve human social life. With the potential, advantages and policy mechanisms that are continuing to be perfected, in the coming time, we will continue to strongly develop biodiversity conservation and associate it with ecotourism. Developing ecotourism experiences, green economy is more practical for the conservation, protection and development of extremely valuable forest resources, is an inevitable trend and we need to be responsible".
At the seminar, speakers said that Vietnam needs more appropriate policies, strategies and approaches to promote the diversification of forms of providing forest ecosystem services./.
