Vietnam and New Zealand affirm to continue accompanying each other in the development process.

According to a VNA reporter reporting from Wellington, on the afternoon of September 22 (local time), a delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam led by comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission, began a working visit to New Zealand.

During the visit, the delegation met with Speaker of the New Zealand Parliament Gerry Brownlee and attended the 80th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day celebration organized by the Vietnamese Embassy in New Zealand at the Parliament House.

At the meeting, Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia conveyed the greetings and warm regards of Vietnamese leaders to the Speaker of the New Zealand Parliament, highly appreciating the results of the official visit to Vietnam by Speaker of the New Zealand Parliament Gerry Brownlee at the end of August.

For his part, National Assembly Chairman Gerry Brownlee was delighted and welcomed the Communist Party of Vietnam delegation's visit at a time when the relationship between the two countries is developing very well, expressing his deep impression of the recent visit to Vietnam, especially witnessing the joyful atmosphere of the Vietnamese people on the occasion of the 80th National Day celebration; congratulating the achievements that Vietnam has made in recent years and saying that Vietnam has an increasingly high role and position in the region and internationally.

The Speaker of the New Zealand Parliament also expressed his delight at the upgrade of the two countries' relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership earlier this year, emphasizing that the two sides have great potential to expand cooperation in the coming time; at the same time, he highly appreciated and believed that Vietnam would achieve its development goals by 2030 and 2045. Speaker of the Parliament Gerry Brownlee affirmed that New Zealand will continue to accompany Vietnam in the development process, thereby contributing to the common prosperity of both countries.

Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia thanked the Government, Parliament and people of New Zealand for their valuable support and assistance to Vietnam in many fields over the past 50 years, since the two countries established diplomatic relations as well as in the cause of national construction and development today.

He suggested that the two sides continue to foster and promote the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, implement high-level agreements, and soon complete the Action Program for the 2025-2030 period to implement the strategic cooperation relationship, including strengthening political relations through exchanges of high-level delegations and all levels, both on the Party, State and Government channels, and tightening people-to-people exchanges as well as between localities and businesses of the two countries.

Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia proposed that New Zealand support sharing experiences with Vietnam in areas such as national governance, digital transformation, green development, providing more scholarships for Vietnamese students studying in New Zealand, enhancing student exchanges and exchanges between universities of the two countries.

The two sides agreed to propose that the agencies of the two countries coordinate to implement specific measures to further enhance the effectiveness of cooperation in the fields of economics, investment, trade, defense, security, and consider opening a direct flight route between the two countries soon to facilitate cooperation in tourism, culture, education and training as well as other fields in line with world trends.

Regarding international issues, the two sides emphasized the need to ensure a peaceful, stable and developing environment in the region and the world, respect international law, and emphasize the importance of freedom, security, and safety of navigation and aviation in the region.
