Vinh Long expects tourism industry to contribute significantly to economic growth

Chairing the press conference, Ms. Nguyen Thi Quyen Thanh, Vice Chairwoman of Vinh Long Provincial People's Committee informed that in the first months of 2025, the number of tourists coming to the province reached about 506,000, an increase of more than 31.5% compared to 2024 and reaching 26% compared to the yearly plan.

In 2025, Vinh Long province will have many cultural and sports events at international, national and provincial levels. With the determination to develop worthy of the province's potential and advantages, the tourism industry is expected to contribute significantly to Vinh Long's economic growth.

"The provincial leaders hope that through the events held at the Culture, Sports and Tourism Week, they will contribute to spreading the message "Southern Rendezvous - Safe, friendly and attractive Vinh Long tourism" to tourists inside and outside the province," said Ms. Nguyen Thi Quyen Thanh.

Mr. Phan Minh Hoang, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vinh Long province, said: The Culture, Sports and Tourism Week takes place from April 26 to May 2 and is part of a series of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South, National Reunification associated with the Liberation of Vinh Long province (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) and the 139th anniversary of International Labor Day (May 1, 1886 - May 1, 2025).

This is an opportunity for Vinh Long province to focus on promoting and advertising its products and potential for tourism development and creating conditions for exchange and cooperation between provinces and cities.

The Culture, Sports and Tourism Week takes place from April 26 to May 2, with many unique activities combining a trade promotion fair, OCOP products and regional specialties.

The main activities of the event include: Thanh Tra Festival, a record-setting performance of 135 culinary dishes made with Thanh Tra ingredients from Binh Minh town; Southern Traditional Cake Festival combined with a Trade Promotion Fair, OCOP products and regional specialties.

Open cycling race, marathon, water puppet show, famtrip promoting tourism tour to Mang Thit heritage, national Honda 67 reunion in Vinh Long, sampan racing, paragliding performance, etc. are expected to attract tourists.

Activities to celebrate Tourism Week and Thanh Tra Festival (a specialty fruit of Binh Minh) will be held on April 12 to set a Vietnamese record of 135 culinary dishes made with Thanh Tra ingredients.

The opening ceremony will take place on the evening of April 29 at Vinh Long City Square. Delegates and people will enjoy a special performance and fireworks display to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification.
