VNNIC accompanies the Department of Science and Technology of Vinh Long province on 5 key goals

On August 19, at the Department of Science and Technology of Vinh Long province, the signing ceremony of a cooperation agreement between the Department of Science and Technology of Vinh Long province and the Vietnam Internet Center (represented by the Vietnam Internet Center Branch in Ho Chi Minh City) took place. The event marked an important step forward in the coordination of management and development of Internet resources to serve the goal of comprehensive digital transformation in the locality.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Do Quang Trung, Head of the Vietnam Internet Network Information Center (VNNIC) branch in Ho Chi Minh City, acknowledged that Vinh Long is one of the pioneering localities in the country and has achieved many outstanding results in the management, exploitation and development of Internet resources.

In particular, in developing the national domain name ".vn", the Head of VNNIC Branch in Ho Chi Minh City affirmed that the national domain name ".vn" is not only an online address but also a brand, a digital home and a representation of Vietnam's digital sovereignty . When Vinh Long promotes the use of ".vn", businesses, business households and people will have a digital home in cyberspace - a reliable online tool, protecting brands, enhancing competitiveness and international integration.

In this spirit, the province has actively implemented the Program to promote and support people, businesses, and business households to have a reliable and safe online presence with digital services using the national domain name ".vn" in Vinh Long province according to Decision No. 826/BTTTT dated April 21, 2024 of the Ministry of Information and Communications .

After more than 6 months of implementing the ".vn" domain name popularization program with nearly 5,500 ".vn" domain names, Vinh Long is affirming its position as one of the pioneering localities in the Mekong Delta in developing Internet resources.

Mr. Do Quang Trung affirmed that VNNIC is committed to always accompanying Vinh Long province in developing infrastructure and digital services associated with safe and reliable Internet resources; supporting businesses and people to increase their digital presence through the national domain name ".vn"; promoting communication, training, and raising public awareness of Vietnam's digital sovereignty in cyberspace.

Accordingly, the cooperation agreement between the two units focuses on five key objectives: First, strengthen coordination in managing and monitoring Internet resources in the locality, ensuring synchronization and efficiency; Second, promote the use of the national domain name ".vn" and support people, organizations, enterprises, and business households to maximize the benefits from digital services to carry out the task of developing Internet resources, the Internet, and popularizing the national domain name ".vn" in the locality; Third, develop human resources, improve technical capacity for state management officials and IT engineers in the locality; Fourth, support planning of Internet connection infrastructure, towards connecting with the national Internet exchange point (VNIX), developing the new generation Internet (IPv6), Internet of Things (IoT), industrial Internet and new Internet technologies; Fifth, deploy the Internet service quality measurement tool - iSpeed, contributing to reflecting the actual quality of Internet access in the locality.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Ms. Doan Hong Hanh, Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Vinh Long province, affirmed that the Department will play the role of a focal point connecting and accompanying VNNIC Branch in Ho Chi Minh City and related units to effectively implement cooperation contents, contributing to spreading to the community of people, enterprises, business households and agencies and organizations in the province.

The Director of the Department of Science and Technology expressed his belief that the cooperation between the two units will increasingly go into depth, bringing specific and practical results for the goal of developing the digital economy and digital society of Vinh Long province. The signing event affirmed Vinh Long's determination in managing and effectively exploiting Internet resources associated with the goal of digital transformation, innovation and science and technology development.

The companionship of VNNIC will help Vinh Long create a safe and modern Internet ecosystem, promoting comprehensive digital presence from people, business households, small enterprises to organizations and state management agencies, contributing to improving the digital transformation index (DTI), innovation (GII), and e-commerce (EBI) in the coming time./.
