Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Procuracy Nguyen Huy Tien reported to the National Assembly on the work of the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Procuracy at the 9th session of the 15th National Assembly.

Assessing the crime situation, the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Procuracy said that, in general, crimes against the law have decreased. However, crimes against national security, corruption, and prosecution of positions have increased.

According to statistics, in 6 months (from October 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025), 15 cases of crimes against national security were prosecuted (an increase of 50%); 476 cases of corruption and position-related crimes were prosecuted (an increase of 1.7%).

According to Mr. Nguyen Huy Tien, the authorities continue to detect, prosecute, and investigate many major cases, with particularly serious and complicated crimes, many of which involve ministries, branches, and localities, with close and sophisticated collusion between state officials and private companies and enterprises, in the fields of land management, resource and mineral exploitation, basic construction investment, and petroleum trading.

Typical examples include: The case of "Violating regulations on research, exploration, and exploitation of natural resources" occurring in Tien Giang and Vinh Long provinces; The case of "Violating regulations on natural resource exploitation", "Violating regulations on accounting causing serious consequences" occurring at Hung Thinh Investment Minerals Group Joint Stock Company and related units; The case of "Embezzlement of assets", "Illegal trading of invoices and documents for collecting state budget" occurring at Thien Minh Duc Group Joint Stock Company; The case of "Giving bribes", "Receiving bribes" occurring at the Management Board of Investment Projects for Construction of Traffic Works and Rural Development of Dak Lak Province and related units...

In addition, the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Procuracy informed that the prosecution agency has initiated a number of cases on the production of fake food products, deceiving customers through advertising and online sales, causing public outrage.

The report cited typical examples such as: The case of Chi Em Rot Group Joint Stock Company and a number of companies; The case of "Violating accounting regulations causing serious consequences"; The case of "Production and trading of counterfeit food products" occurring at Rance Pharma International Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company, Hacofood Group Nutrition Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company and related agencies and organizations in Hanoi and provinces and cities nationwide.

Recovering 1,348 billion VND from corruption and position cases

The Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Procuracy said that during the reporting period, the Procuracy exercised the right to prosecute and supervise the handling of 1,765 sources of information on corruption, economics, and positions; resolved and handled 1,334 sources of information, of which the investigation agency decided to prosecute 797 cases.

The Supreme People's Procuracy's Investigation Agency alone prosecuted and investigated 30 cases/88 defendants for corruption and position-related crimes occurring in judicial activities.

Notably, the agencies applied security measures to recover during the investigation, prosecution, and trial of corruption and position cases more than VND 1,348 billion; and recovered through civil judgment enforcement more than VND 9,781 billion.

In addition, the prosecution agencies also temporarily detained, seized, and suspended transactions of many other assets.

Mr. Nguyen Huy Tien affirmed that the Procuracy has coordinated with the prosecution agencies to speed up the progress, handle the right people, the right crimes, and the right law, especially the cases monitored and directed by the Central Steering Committee on preventing and combating corruption, waste, and negativity.

" The work of handling corruption and waste cases continues to achieve positive results, with many particularly serious cases being prosecuted, investigated, prosecuted, and tried, " the report stated.

The Supreme People's Procuracy strictly and effectively implements the tasks and requirements of the Central Steering Committee on preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity; closely coordinates with the Investigation Agency in applying measures to recover assets in corruption and economic cases.

The Supreme People's Procuracy continues to closely coordinate with the Ministry of Public Security and the Supreme People's Court in detecting, initiating, investigating, prosecuting, and trying, ensuring strict and lawful handling of major corruption and economic cases.
