In the qualifying round for the main round taking place from the morning of September 9, former number 1 female tennis player in Vietnam, Vu Thi Trang (ranked 131) successively defeated tennis players Aashi Rawat (2003, ranked 136) and Liang Ka Wing (2005, ranked 162) both through 3 tense sets.
In the first match, Vu Thi Trang lost the first set 15-21 to Indian player Rawat. However, the former number 1 Vietnamese female tennis player still showed her class and courage when she came back to win 2-1, then won the next two sets 21-17, 21-15.
Entering the final match of the qualifying round, Vu Thi Trang encountered some difficulties in the first two sets, but in the deciding set, she completely dominated the court and won 2-1 (21-15, 12-21 and 21-8).

Also today, former number 1 Vietnamese tennis player Nguyen Tien Minh - ranked 362 and husband of Vu Thi Trang - also played in the qualifying round.
Facing young Indian tennis player Orijit Chaliha (ranked 313, born in 2005), the 42-year-old tennis player was not strong enough to make a comeback when he ran out of steam in the deciding set, losing 1-2 (20-22, 21–18, 11-21).

The Vietnam Open 2025 (from September 9 to 14) brings together over 300 athletes from 22 countries competing with host Vietnam.
The total prize money of the tournament is 110,000 USD, in which the men's and women's singles champions receive 8,250 USD each; the men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles champions receive 8,690 USD each.
