Having just achieved victory with the HCMC women's team, 'hero' Thuy Trang had to go to the doctor: Perforated eardrum

After the historic victory with Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club in the quarter-finals of the Asian Cup 1, midfielder Tran Thi Thuy Trang had to undergo a health check.

On the evening of March 22, Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club made history in Vietnamese football when it defeated Abu Dhabi Country (UAE) with a score of 5-4 to enter the semi-finals of the Asian Cup 1. Tran Thi Thuy Trang and her teammates were down 0-3, but made a spectacular comeback with 5 goals in just the last 30 minutes of the match to defeat the powerful opponent from West Asia.

Along with goal scorers like K'Thua or Chuong Thi Kieu, midfielder Thuy Trang also left her mark with her aggressive and determined play. Thanks to the experience of the reigning Vietnam Women's Golden Ball, the HCMC Women's Club regained control of the game before turning the tables. At the age of 37, the threshold at which many female players have retired, switched to coaching or chosen a new path, Thuy Trang still "fights left and right" for the colors of the HCMC Women's Team.

However, after the match, Thuy Trang had to undergo an endoscopy. The midfielder born in 1988 had exudative sinusitis and a perforated right eardrum. "Behind that glory," Thuy Trang wrote on her personal page with the test results.

This is not the first time in her career that Thuy Trang has had health problems. The captain of the Ho Chi Minh City women's team almost... failed to pass through airport security, because of 6 screws fixing her bone, the result of surgery for an injury she suffered at the club. She once intended to retire after the 2023 World Cup when she was not allowed to play for the Vietnamese women's team. However, Thuy Trang changed her mind and continued to contribute to women's football.

Throughout her career, Thuy Trang has won 10 National Cup championships, 3 National Cups, and a historic ticket to the semi-finals of the Asian Cup C1 with the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club. With the Vietnamese women's team, Thuy Trang won the SEA Games 4 times, ranked 5th in the 2022 Asian Cup, and a ticket to the 2023 World Cup. Thuy Trang also won the 2024 Southeast Asian women's futsal championship, when she and her teammates defeated Thailand in the final match at the end of last year.
