Binh Thuan has a 192 km long coastline, with 7 districts, towns, cities/35 communes, wards, and towns in the maritime border area. In particular, Phu Quy island district is a place with an important strategic position in terms of security and defense. Implementing the requirements of the National Border Guard Day, over the past 5 years, the Provincial Border Guard Command has proactively coordinated with departments, branches, localities, and units to deploy many activities and achieved comprehensive results in all fields. Notably, in addition to efforts to propagate and disseminate laws on sovereignty and islands to the people; Border Guard units also strengthened their grasp of the situation, organized patrols, and controlled the maritime border area. Thereby, 5 cases/5 foreign ships violating the sovereignty of our country's waters were detected and handled. At the same time, 8 cases/9 fishing boats/69 fishermen in the province violated the sovereignty of foreign waters when exploiting seafood were verified, investigated, and handled.

According to statistics from the functional sector, the whole province has 7,824 vehicles/44,533 workers participating in seafood exploitation, of which 1,951 fishing vessels registered for seafood exploitation and logistics services in offshore areas. From 2019 to now, the Provincial Border Guard has guided and confirmed nearly 2,200 vehicles in the province/84,472 vehicles participating in seafood fishing according to Decision No. 48 of the Prime Minister on policies to encourage and support fishermen to go offshore to exploit seafood in offshore areas. In search and rescue work, it has announced a call for 61,500 fishing vessels/365,100 workers operating at sea to safe places to avoid and shelter from storms. Organized reception and medical care for 12 cases/12 fishing vessels/57 workers in distress in the province's waters; Participated in the search and safely pulled 17 fishing boats/41 workers in distress at sea ashore.

On the other hand, the Provincial Border Guard also launched a movement for the entire population to participate in the fight against crime; directly arrested 222 cases/304 subjects for buying, selling, storing, and using drugs; discovered, uprooted, and destroyed over 3,100 fresh marijuana plants. Arrested 14 cases/14 subjects trading in smuggled cigarettes, administratively sanctioned 13 cases/13 subjects; arrested 4 cases/5 subjects for illegal buying, selling, transporting, and storing of weapons and explosives. Arrested 2 cases/2 subjects/2 victims who were lured and tricked into being sold to China; discovered and arrested 6 cases/6 subjects for using explosives to exploit seafood at sea...

Closely connected with the people

Along with propaganda work and handling violations according to regulations, the Provincial Border Guard also implemented many programs for people in coastal areas. In the past 5 years, 42 students in difficult circumstances have been sponsored and supported with a total amount of more than 189 million VND/year from the program "Helping children go to school". The model "Adopted children of Border Guard Station" also supported 42 children in especially difficult economic circumstances with a total amount of more than 108 million VND/year. The project "Army officers and soldiers help children go to school" has been supporting 13 students who are children of ethnic minorities with an amount of 1.1 million VND/child/month. The Provincial Border Guard also coordinated to donate more than 2,200 multi-purpose life jackets, 140 first aid kits, and 140 national flags to poor fishermen with a total amount of nearly 3.5 billion VND. Support sustainable livelihoods for poor and near-poor fishermen in difficult circumstances with a total amount of 190 million VND.

In the spirit of Directive No. 15 of the Prime Minister on "Strengthening the direction of socio-economic construction and development, consolidating national defense and security in border communes and wards", the Border Guard force continues to coordinate in implementing the national target program on new rural construction; building 12 "Great Unity" houses. Participated in more than 2,200 working days to help people overcome high tides and erosion; coordinated in medical examination, treatment and free medicine distribution for more than 1,500 policy households and poor households worth more than 200 million VND. Coordinated with the education sector and other sectors and localities to implement and achieve many important results of the primary education universalization program in the coastal border area, especially in mobilizing drop-out students to continue going to school, helping schools repair classrooms, desks and chairs; giving school supplies to poor and studious children... These meaningful activities have significantly contributed to raising awareness and sense of law observance among the people. Thereby continuing to build a beautiful image of Uncle Ho's soldiers, the People actively participate in protecting sovereignty over seas and islands, security and order, contributing to building an all-people Border Defense in an increasingly strong all-people national defense and people's security posture.

Today, in response to the requirements of the assigned tasks, the Provincial Border Guard will continue to thoroughly grasp and focus on implementing resolutions on protecting the Fatherland and national borders, as well as Vietnam's national defense strategy and the movement of all people participating in protecting territorial sovereignty and national border security in the new situation.
