Exceeded target
Resolution of the 17th Provincial Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term sets a goal that by 2025 the whole province will reach 35 hospital beds per 10,000 people.
With the assigned functions and tasks, the Board of Directors of the Department of Health met, issued resolutions to lead the implementation of tasks, assigned targets for developing hospital beds in accordance with the development orientation, expanded technical expertise, and classified medical facilities. At the same time, each Party Committee member in charge of a field or area was assigned the responsibility to grasp and review actual needs so that the Department could advise the Provincial People's Committee to arrange a budget for infrastructure investment.
The number of hospital beds has been expanded and the quality of treatment at My Lam Mineral Spring Hospital has been improved.
At the end of 2022, My Lam Mineral Spring Hospital ( Tuyen Quang City) will receive an investment of over 200 billion VND from the central budget, local budget capital and other legal capital sources to build a new headquarters on an area of 4 hectares, with a scale of 200 beds. The project includes main items and auxiliary items, with full items, and will become a medical highlight of the area, meeting the needs of health care, medical examination and treatment, mineral baths, and rehabilitation for the people.
In 2020, the Provincial Hospital of Traditional Medicine, thanks to the investment in the construction of a new building for general examination and outpatient treatment (put into use in 2024), the number of inpatient beds of the hospital was increased. From 200 beds, it has now increased to 240 beds.
Specialist Doctor II Ngo Van Hoan, Director of the Provincial Traditional Medicine Hospital, said: “Based on the assigned targets, every year, the hospital issues a specialized resolution on developing hospital beds, in which priority is given to the area for medical examination and treatment in general and inpatient treatment in particular. In order for the resolution to come into practice, in monthly Party meetings and professional meetings, we always ask relevant departments and offices to report on the progress of implementation as well as any difficulties to be resolved, thereby improving the quality of examination and treatment.”
According to the Department of Health, after more than 4 years of implementing the Resolution of the 17th Provincial Party Congress, the target for developing hospital beds has been achieved and exceeded. The Congress target is 35 hospital beds/10,000 people; in 2024, it will reach 42 hospital beds/10,000 people, and by 2025, it is expected to be 44 hospital beds/10,000 people.
Improve the quality of medical examination and treatment
Along with the direction to increase the number of hospital beds, from 2020 to now, the health sector has sent more than 2,000 officials and employees to receive training at central hospitals and schools. After training, doctors have mastered many new techniques. In addition, Party committees and authorities at all levels have directed to improve the quality of medical examination and treatment at public health facilities; creating conditions and maximum support for private hospitals to expand the number of hospital beds.
Despite the growth compared to previous years, the province is still continuing solutions to achieve higher goals according to the Congress Resolution such as: investing in building and upgrading facilities; enhancing training and attracting medical human resources; cooperating with central hospitals; promoting digital transformation; perfecting the grassroots health system.
Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hung, Director of the Department of Health, said: “Along with the development and implementation of the hospital bed development plan of the Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Health is coordinating with sectors and localities to advise on contents related to the health sector in the draft documents of the Provincial Party Congress for the term 2025 - 2030. In particular, focusing on advising on solutions to improve the quality of health care for people, improve the quality of the population, policies on training linkage and development of the scale of hospital beds in the coming period".
These synchronous and drastic efforts show that Tuyen Quang is on the right track to achieve the goal of increasing the number of hospital beds in particular and improving the quality of comprehensive health care for the people in accordance with the spirit of the Resolution of the Provincial Party Congress. Adhering to this goal is not only the task of the health sector but also requires close coordination from all levels, sectors and the support of the whole society.
