Many industries are accelerating

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment , in October alone, Vietnam's agricultural, forestry and fishery export turnover is estimated at 5.96 billion USD, an increase of more than 6% over the same period last year.

Accordingly, Vietnam's agricultural, forestry and fishery exports in the first 10 months of 2025 recorded a strong breakthrough, with a total turnover of more than 58 billion USD, an increase of nearly 13% over the same period last year. Notably, Asia has surpassed the US to become the largest import market for Vietnamese agricultural products, accounting for 44.7% of total export turnover.

This result helps to consolidate the impressive recovery momentum of the entire industry, despite the impact of storms, floods and extreme weather in many key production areas.

In that general picture, many key products such as coffee, seafood, vegetables and wood continue to play a leading role, contributing significantly to the growth rate of nearly 13% of the entire industry.

Coffee export value reached over 7.4 billion USD, up nearly 30% over the same period, maintaining its position as the agricultural product with the largest trade surplus. Seafood brought in over 9.3 billion USD, a clear recovery after the sluggish period of the previous year, in which shrimp and tra fish accounted for a high proportion.

Fruits and vegetables continued to be a bright spot with a turnover of more than 7 billion USD, an increase of over 25%, showing the resilience of processed fruit and fresh fruit products exported to China, Japan and Europe. Meanwhile, wood and wood products remained the largest commodity group in the agricultural sector, reaching nearly 14 billion USD, thanks to businesses increasing orders from the US and Europe.

The rise of the Asian market

The structure of export markets has also changed a lot. Asia has emerged as the largest consuming region, with a turnover of nearly 26 billion USD, while the US and Europe followed with 22.7% and 13.8%, respectively. The growth of the Asian region is mainly due to strong expansion in neighboring markets such as China, Japan, Malaysia and South Korea.

China continues to be the largest partner, accounting for more than 21% of Vietnam's total agricultural, forestry and fishery export turnover, up 12% over the same period. Japan also attracted attention with an increase of more than 20%, showing that the demand for importing high-quality agricultural products is clearly increasing in this market.

In addition to traditional markets, many new destinations are emerging with rapid growth. Vietnamese fruit and vegetable products have made a strong impression in Malaysia, while rice has made great strides in Bangladesh. Coffee, pepper and seafood products have also expanded significantly in distant markets such as Mexico, the UK and Brazil.

Not only has the volume of agricultural, forestry and fishery products increased sharply, but Vietnam's trade balance of agricultural, forestry and fishery products continues to maintain a high surplus. In 10 months, the trade surplus reached nearly 17.6 billion USD, an increase of more than 16% compared to last year. Groups of goods with large trade surpluses such as wood, coffee, vegetables and seafood all achieved outstanding results, contributing significantly to overall export growth.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment said that although the agricultural sector is still affected by climate change and market risks, with the current growth momentum, agricultural, forestry and fishery exports in 2025 could reach a historic milestone of 67 to 70 billion USD.
