On the evening of October 2, Nguyen Thi Oanh entered the final round of the women's 3000m steeplechase. Despite her best efforts, the runner born in 1995 only finished second to last in the final round of the women's 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9 minutes 57 seconds 13. Notably, Nguyen Thi Oanh's performance at the 19th ASIAD was nearly 40 seconds ahead of the time that helped her win the gold medal at the 32nd SEA Games.

Specifically, Nguyen Thi Oanh won gold in Cambodia in the 3000m steeplechase event with a time of 10 minutes 34 seconds 37. However, Oanh's performance at the Southeast Asian Games was affected because she had to participate in two consecutive events with a break of less than 30 minutes. Before running the 3000m steeplechase, Nguyen Thi Oanh also won gold in the 1500m event.

Nguyen Thi Oanh did not win a medal in the women's 3000m steeplechase.

Returning to the 19th ASIAD, the gold medalist in the 3000m steeplechase was Yavi Winfred Mutile (Bahrain) with a time of 9 minutes 18 seconds 28, breaking the ASIAD record. Chaudhary Parul (India) won the silver medal with a time of 9 minutes 27 seconds 63. Priti (India) won the bronze medal with a time of 9 minutes 43 seconds 32.

Earlier, Nguyen Thi Oanh finished 7th in the women's 1500m final. Two Bahraini athletes won gold and bronze. The silver medal went to an Indian runner. Nguyen Thi Oanh's time was 4 minutes 24 seconds 19, while the winner's time was 4 minutes 11 seconds 65.

In fact, Vietnamese athletics still make certain differences in the SEA Games arena, but the ASIAD is a completely different story. India, China and some other countries possess many athletes with impressive sprinting ability and superior stride.

Although they won the gold medal in Southeast Asia, it is not easy for them to win medals when appearing in the continental arena.

On October 2, Tran Thi Nhi Yen finished second to last in the final of the women's 200m event. She achieved a time of 23 seconds 85. The gold medal winner in this event was Shanti Pereira with a time of 23 seconds 03. Ly Yuting (China) won the silver medal with a time of 23 seconds 28. Odiong Ofonime won the bronze medal with a time of 23 seconds 48. Before that, Nhi Yen also could not create a surprise in the women's 100m event.
