Apple's WWDC 2025 event has concluded, introducing many notable improvements across software platforms. However, Siri - Apple's virtual assistant - has not made any clear progress, leaving many users disappointed.

At WWDC 2025, Apple introduced Liquid Glass, a completely new design style that brings a more modern and sophisticated look to its operating system. This is considered the biggest change in interface since iOS 7 launched in 2013.

Liquid Glass is applied uniformly across iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS, creating consistency across Apple devices. The design provides a sense of transparency, reflection, and smooth motion, making the interface more vivid and intuitive. As users manipulate, on-screen elements react naturally, creating subtle lighting effects without being distracting.

Liquid Glass is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also adaptive. The controls can change according to the environment, allowing the interface to adapt to the lighting conditions and the content being displayed. For example, when the user switches to Dark Mode, the reflection effect will be softer, providing a more intuitive experience at night.

This is evident when opening the application: The transparent glass effect gives each interface layer more depth, instead of simply flat colored boxes as before. Widgets and notifications also take advantage of this effect to highlight important information without affecting the overall aesthetic.

Apple Aims for a Smarter Experience with iOS 26

Apple introduced iOS 26 with many important improvements to enhance user convenience. One of the most notable features is Live Translation, which helps users translate conversations in real time right on the Phone and Messages applications. This feature promises to bring great convenience when communicating with foreigners without the need for third-party translation applications.

In addition, Apple also upgraded the Camera and Wallet, bringing many improvements in image quality and payment features. Siri still hasn't made any significant progress.

Despite Apple’s heavy investment in AI, Siri has yet to see the significant upgrades many had hoped for. The company has admitted that its virtual assistant is not up to par and needs more time to improve. While Apple Intelligence has expanded with features like Live Translation on FaceTime, Screen-sharing AI, and Workout Buddy AI, Siri has yet to make any significant strides, creating frustration among its users.

Over the past few years, Apple's competitors like Google and OpenAI have made great strides in AI, leaving Siri increasingly behind. Google Assistant and its ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini models are now more intelligently interactive, supporting a variety of complex tasks, from task scheduling to natural language processing, with ease.

WWDC 2025 brought many notable improvements, especially the interface design transformation and upgrades on iOS, but Apple still left open the future of Siri. With these changes, whether Apple can compete with other strong AI rivals or not is still an unanswered question.
