On April 13, the Department of Maternal and Child Health ( Ministry of Health ) sent a document to the Hai Phong Department of Health regarding the verification and reporting of a medical incident involving a pregnant woman at Vinh Bao District General Hospital, Hai Phong City.
Accordingly, the Department of Mothers and Children received information from a newspaper reporting a medical incident involving Ms. LTC, born in 1980, residing in Noi Don village, Tan Lien commune, Vinh Bao district, Hai Phong city, when she came to give birth at Vinh Bao District General Hospital on March 5, 2025.
The Ministry of Health requests the Hai Phong Department of Health to inspect and verify the above medical incident and promptly report to the Ministry of Health (Department of Maternal and Child Health) before 12:00 on April 15, 2025 for synthesis and reporting to the Ministry's leaders.
Hai Phong Department of Health directed Vinh Bao District General Hospital to hold a professional council meeting in accordance with the provisions of the current Law on Medical Examination and Treatment to evaluate the process of receiving, caring for, and handling the above-mentioned case of pregnant woman C. (in case Vinh Bao District General Hospital cannot establish a professional council, the Department of Health will establish a professional council).
Relevant units shall notify the conclusion of the Professional Council to the pregnant woman's family and the mass media; Report the results of the case settlement to the Ministry of Health before May 31, 2025.
Previously, on March 5, the pregnant woman LTC (born in 1980, residing in Noi Don village, Tan Lien commune, Vinh Bao district, Hai Phong city) went to Vinh Bao district General Hospital to give birth. According to the family, the pregnant woman was in a normal state at that time but suddenly died.
The husband of the pregnant woman C. said that his wife's death showed signs of being related to the responsibility of Vinh Bao General Hospital. However, more than a month after the woman's death, the family has yet to receive a satisfactory explanation from the hospital and relevant authorities.
On April 11, Vinh Bao District General Hospital (Hai Phong City) said it had followed regulations in the case of a pregnant woman who died after being admitted to the hospital to give birth by cesarean section./.
