2025 is the year the tourism industry is witnessing dramatic changes in the needs, behaviors and travel goals of tourists and families. After a busy day at work, each individual now needs a "slow" trip, needs a quiet moment to "relax" body-mind-spirit; while families want to focus on connecting each member after a school year, want their children to have more new and interesting experiences outside of books...
Prioritize family travel experiences
According to Booking.com’s 2025 Travel Trend Forecast, 65% of Vietnamese travelers see travel as an opportunity to spend precious time together. In particular, 88% of parents surveyed said that trips are a good opportunity for their children to be exposed to diverse cultures and learn from reality; 59% want to experience new dishes and regional specialties. This reality shows a strong shift from “check-in” travel to experiential travel.
Booking.com Country Manager in Vietnam, Mr. Varun Grover commented on this trend: “It is not only important ‘where to go’ but also ‘who to go with.’ Summer is the ideal time to create beautiful memories with loved ones.”
Search data from June 1 to July 31, 2025 on Booking.com shows that beach trips dominate at 61%, followed by nature trips (59%) and big cities (45%).
Accordingly, in the country, places such as Da Nang , Nha Trang, Da Lat, Phu Quoc or Vung Tau are the most searched destinations. Because they not only provide a relaxing space, but also have resorts and entertainment areas that meet the diverse needs of tourists of many generations.

In the 2025 Summer travel trend, the most obvious difference is that Vietnamese families see travel as a connecting tool instead of simply resting. Mr. Varun Grover assessed that instead of choosing a geographical distance of “going very far,” Vietnamese tourists today prioritize places that help the whole family have a meaningful experience together, that place is worth going.
In addition to domestic trips, Vietnamese families also tend to travel abroad to Asia-Pacific countries (accounting for 8/10 of the top search positions this summer). The chosen international destinations not only have unique cultures, but also thrive on child-friendly services and multi-generational families.
According to Booking.com, the top 10 most searched international destinations from June 1 to July 31, 2025 include: Bangkok (Thailand), Tokyo (Japan), Singapore, Seoul (Korea), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Paris (France), Hong Kong, Osaka (Japan), Sydney (Australia), Chiang Mai (Thailand).
The fact that cities like Tokyo, Singapore and Bangkok continue to be in the top trends for the second consecutive year shows the enduring appeal of these cultural and entertainment centers to Vietnamese families.

“Slow travel” is on the rise
Slow travel is the trend of the future. It is not just a trend, but a lifestyle, a way that modern people choose to react to the hustle and bustle of society.
Indeed, in a hurried world, where travel sometimes turns into a “checklist” full of destinations, making each journey seem like torture, the trend of “slow travel” is quietly spreading - where people slow down to feel more deeply and connect more authentically with the world and with themselves.
That is why, now everyone often looks for their own way to fully immerse themselves in the life of the local people, feel the beauty of nature, enjoy local cuisine and explore the unique culture of the destination.
Online travel platform Agoda has recently announced a list of ideal Asian destinations for a “slow-living” journey, in which Nha Trang surprisingly surpassed many famous cities to lead the list in Vietnam, alongside familiar destinations such as Tokyo, Seoul or Chiang Mai.

Not dreamy Da Lat, ancient Hue, or quiet Hoi An, the central coastal city of Nha Trang with its long coastline, white sand as smooth as silk, gentle golden sunlight and clear blue water like jade is the place that Agoda users rate as the ideal destination for a relaxing vacation and enjoying every moment.
In addition to Nha Trang, Agoda also recognizes Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City as two ideal destinations for a slow-living journey in Vietnam.

Regarding foreign tourist destinations, Chiang Mai (Thailand) with its ancient Lanna culture, brilliant golden temples and short meditation courses is a favorite choice for Vietnamese tourists for a peaceful, profound and complete experience.
“Slow travel is like a ‘reset’ button, changing the way we explore the world, encouraging people to temporarily put aside the hustle and bustle of life to truly immerse themselves and feel the beauty of each destination. With its gentle coastal atmosphere, Nha Trang is the perfect choice to regain balance and inspiration in life,” said Mr. Vu Ngoc Lam./.
