According to Mr. Hong Van Hoang - Deputy Director of the Market Management Department, the standing agency of Steering Committee 389 Tay Ninh, in recent times, smuggling, trade fraud, and illegal transportation of goods at border gate areas still occur but on a small scale, mainly consumer goods that border residents split into small pieces and transport from Cambodia to Vietnam through trails, openings and both sides of the border gate. The subjects are passengers entering and exiting the country, drivers, and assistants crossing the border hiding goods in luggage and means of transport to illegally transport across the border.

From the end of 2020 to the beginning of 2022, the Covid-19 epidemic situation has been complicated both domestically and internationally , significantly affecting the export, import, and transit of goods; exit, entry, and transit of people and means of transport. Authorities have strengthened and tightened control over the prevention and control of illegal entry and exit at the border. E-commerce activities have been strong during this time, however, it is very difficult to control.

Since the beginning of 2022, the Covid-19 epidemic has been controlled, production and business activities have been restored and become more vibrant, and economic and social life has gradually returned to normal. Smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods have become more intense and complicated at different times - especially during holidays and Tet, when consumer demand increases.

Regarding the implementation results of Plan No. 92/KH-BCĐ389 dated September 13, 2022 of the National Steering Committee 389 on strengthening the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods on border routes, sea areas and inland areas, in the first 4 months of the year, there were 725 violations, 43 cases were prosecuted, and the budget revenue was 16.5 billion VND.

Regarding the implementation results of Plan No. 399/KH-BCĐ dated October 10, 2020 of the National Steering Committee 389 on strengthening the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in e-commerce activities, in the first 4 months of the year, the authorities discovered and arrested 24 cases and 25 subjects with acts of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in e-commerce activities.

Administratively handled 21 cases, 22 subjects with a total fine of more than 576 million VND, the proceeds from confiscated goods were 72.5 million VND. Criminally handled 3 cases, 4 subjects for illegal transportation of goods across the border, trading in counterfeit goods and trading in prohibited goods. Total revenue paid to the budget was 649 million VND.

In the coming time, it is forecasted that the situation of smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and illegal transportation of goods across the border in the area will likely become more complicated, depending on the purchasing power of the market.

Concluding the meeting, Mr. Trinh Manh Cuong - Deputy Chief of the Standing Office of the National Steering Committee 389 said that localities need to continue to thoroughly grasp and implement resolutions, directives, plans and programs and directives of the Government, Prime Minister, and National Steering Committee 389 on the prevention and combat of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods.

Provincial Steering Committee 389, member departments, branches, and functional forces, based on their assigned functions and tasks, proactively grasp the situation, identify outstanding and complicated issues, develop and implement plans to inspect, examine, investigate, detect, and strictly handle all acts of smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods.

The Office of the National Steering Committee 389 awarded certificates of merit from the National Steering Committee 389 to individuals with outstanding achievements in the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in Tay Ninh province in 2022.

Review, summarize, and summarize the specialized plans issued by the Steering Committee, terminate the expired and ineffective specialized plans, develop and issue new specialized plans that are appropriate and responsive to the new situation. Continue to review difficulties and obstacles, propose timely amendments, supplements, and replacements, gradually perfect the institution, and improve the effectiveness of anti-smuggling and trade fraud work.

On this occasion, the Office of the National Steering Committee 389 awarded certificates of merit from the National Steering Committee 389 to 2 collectives and 5 individuals with outstanding achievements in the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in Tay Ninh province in 2022.

Previously, on May 17, a working delegation from the Standing Office of the National Steering Committee 389 led by Mr. Trinh Manh Cuong - Deputy Chief of the Standing Office of the National Steering Committee 389 visited a number of border guards and border gates in Tay Ninh province to grasp the situation and results of the work against smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods.

The working group conducted a field survey at Moc Bai International Border Gate, Tam Nam International Border Gate, Xa Mat Border Gate Border Guard Station, Chang Riec Border Gate Border Guard Station, and Co.opMart supermarket in Tay Ninh City. At each location, the working group listened to the units assess the current situation, emerging activities, the nature of the routes, areas, and key products; the results of implementing Plan No. 92, Plan No. 399, and directive documents of the National Steering Committee 389; the units raised difficulties, obstacles, and made recommendations and proposed solutions to improve the effectiveness of the fight against smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods in the coming time.

At each survey point, the working group highly appreciated the results achieved in the work of preventing and combating smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods of the units, and at the same time acknowledged the difficulties and obstacles of the units and proposed directions and solutions to overcome the difficulties, contributing to the effective implementation of the work of combating and combating smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods in the coming time.
