Strictly handle violations in the accident that killed 6 people in Son La

(NLDO) - The Prime Minister requested strict handling of groups and individuals who violated the law in the particularly serious traffic accident in Son La that killed 6 people.

A tragic accident in Son La killed 6 people and injured 9 others.

On February 22, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh issued Official Dispatch No. 18/CD-TTg directing the handling of the consequences of a particularly serious traffic accident at km 235+100 of National Highway 6 in Son La province.

Telegrams sent to the Ministers of Public Security, Transport; Chairman of the People's Committee of Son La province and provinces and centrally run cities; National Traffic Safety Committee.

According to the dispatch, at 11:30 p.m. on February 21, a particularly serious traffic accident occurred at Km235+100 on National Highway 6, through Sap Vat commune, Yen Chau district, Son La province, resulting in 6 deaths and 9 injuries.

Upon receiving information about the accident, the Prime Minister directed to send his warmest regards to the injured and condolences to the relatives and families of the deceased victims; at the same time, directed the leaders of Son La province and the police force to go to the scene to direct the handling of the accident consequences.

To promptly overcome the consequences of the above accident and prevent similar traffic accidents, the Prime Minister requested the Chairman of the People's Committee and Head of the Traffic Safety Committee of Son La province to urgently direct the provincial agencies and functional units to immediately arrange all medical conditions and medicines to treat the victims, minimize the loss of life and property of the people; organize visits, support and encourage the victims and families of the victims who died in the accident.

Assign the Chairman of the People's Committee of Son La province to directly chair a conference with relevant agencies and forces to assess the causes and immediately deploy solutions to overcome existing problems and shortcomings. At the same time, urgently clarify the direct and indirect causes related to the above accident in accordance with the Prime Minister's direction in Directive No. 10/CT-TTg dated April 19, 2023 on strengthening the work of ensuring order and safety of road traffic in the new situation; as a basis for propaganda and implementation of preventive solutions in the coming time.

The Prime Minister assigned the Minister of Public Security to direct the Son La Provincial Police and relevant units to urgently investigate and clarify the cause of the accident and strictly handle in accordance with the law the organizations and individuals who violated regulations, causing the above-mentioned particularly serious traffic accident.

The Prime Minister noted strict handling of drivers, vehicle owners or garages and related individuals in cases of violations of regulations on working hours, conditions and health of drivers in the above accident.

The Ministry of Public Security directs the police of units and localities to strengthen patrols and strictly control road transport activities by automobile, especially passenger vehicles and large-volume cargo vehicles; review the journey monitoring equipment system for commercial automobiles, and strictly handle violations in accordance with the law, especially violations of regulations on working hours of drivers.

The Minister of Transport directed relevant units to review and organize traffic reasonably and scientifically on National Highway 6 and important expressways and national highways, and overcome limitations (if any).

The Chairmen of the People's Committees of provinces and centrally run cities shall direct functional units to strengthen inspection and supervision of compliance with legal regulations related to business activities and business conditions for automobile transportation, especially regulations on working hours, conditions and health of drivers, and strictly handle violations by drivers, car owners, car owners and related individuals in accordance with the law to prevent similar accidents.

Strengthen prevention and propaganda work on ensuring safety when participating in traffic, especially in mountainous areas with steep mountain passes, in limited weather conditions, and slippery roads.
