Rice exports continue to grow and break out
At the end of April, our country's rice exports reached more than 3 million tons and brought in over 2 billion USD, an increase of about 40% over the same period in 2023.
Commenting on the rice market in the second quarter, the Vietnam Food Association said that world rice prices and Vietnam's rice exports will remain high. The world's largest rice exporter, India, has not yet lifted the ban on white rice exports since the middle of last year. Thailand will also cut rice exports to ensure domestic food security. It is forecast that the world will have a shortage of about 7 million tons of rice this year. This creates opportunities for rice exporting countries, including Vietnam.

The first batch of Thanh Ha lychees ( Hai Duong ) in 2024 will be transported to Australia by plane on May 14. This is a traditional market that has consumed Thanh Ha lychees for many years.
According to Red Dragon Production, Trade and Service Company Limited ( Ho Chi Minh City), the company is pre-processing about 1 ton of Thanh Ha early lychee for export to Australia. The lychee was purchased on May 11 from several gardens in Ha Dong area, meeting VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards.

After careful screening and preliminary processing, on May 13, the company irradiated all of the fabrics to meet quarantine criteria and on May 14, they will be exported to Australia by air.
According to the plan, when the lychee blooms earlier and the pink lychee tea is harvested, the business will purchase 10-15 tons per day for export.

Impressive growth in agricultural, forestry and fishery exports
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products in April reached 5.14 billion USD, an increase of 19.7% compared to April 2023.
In the first four months of 2024, the total export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products nationwide is estimated to reach more than 19 billion USD, an increase of 23.7% over the same period last year. Most of the main agricultural and forestry export products increased compared to the same period last year, as well as the export value to all markets increased.

Specifically, main agricultural exports reached 2.83 billion USD (up 29.2%), forestry products 1.39 billion USD (up 18.6%), livestock 40.8 million USD (up 5.9%), production inputs 157 million USD (up 0.5%). Particularly, aquatic products reached 730 million USD (down 1.5%). In the 4 months, all export groups increased, so the export turnover increased, reaching 19.06 billion USD.
Of which, coffee exports had the highest growth rate, reaching 2.5 billion USD, up more than 54% over the same period last year. Next was rice, after 4 months, 3 million tons were exported, with a turnover of 1.93 billion USD, up 13.5% in volume and 23.7% in value over the same period last year. Vietnam's rice exports continued to dominate key markets with large consumption demand in terms of output.
According to calculations by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, with the export results of the past 4 months (the highest ever in the first 4 months of the year), if the whole year maintains 750 thousand tons/month, the export market space could reach 9 million tons of rice.
Along with coffee and rice, vegetables and fruits are also agricultural products with impressive growth in the first four months of 2024, with export turnover reaching 1.8 billion USD, up 32% over the same period last year.
