On the morning of June 5, Mai Xuan Trieu was taken by his mother to the exam site of Binh An Secondary School (District 8, Ho Chi Minh City) to listen to the 10th grade exam regulations and review the information before the exam day. The image of the little student being carried by his teacher into the exam room moved many people.

Trieu is a special candidate in this year's 10th grade entrance exam in Ho Chi Minh City.

The student was carried into the exam room by the teacher.

Mr. Pho Trong Huy, Vice Chairman of the examination board of Binh An Secondary School, said that the candidate wanted to sit and take the test in the exam room as originally arranged, so the school arranged for someone to support and carry him to the exam room, creating the best conditions for him to complete the test.

Unlike his peers, Trieu was diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy at the age of 3, his limbs gradually weakened, and he had to use a wheelchair. Despite many difficulties, Trieu never gave up, on the contrary, he was an example of overcoming difficulties to excel in his studies. For many years, Trieu achieved good results and was an excellent student in his class.

The male student said he placed his first choice at Hung Vuong High School (District 5), which is the school near his mother's workplace.

"I studied a lot by myself. Some days I studied until midnight and continued to go to school the next morning. However, I didn't feel tired. On the contrary, I had high expectations for this exam," Trieu excitedly expressed.

Candidates chat with friends

Unable to hide her emotions, Ms. Vo Thi Kim Huong, mother of Trieu, shared: "Although I know that my child has more disadvantages than his friends, he always maintains an optimistic spirit and strives to study tirelessly. This is also a great motivation for me. I am very grateful for the love, care and help of his teachers and friends over the past time."

At the Hoa Lu Secondary School (Thu Duc City) exam site, there was also a special candidate. The male student burned his hand before the exam day, so the exam council arranged a separate exam room, had someone to help write the test, and had a surveillance camera during the entire exam.

Mr. Ngo Lap Thu, Chairman of the examination board of Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted (District 5), said that there was a candidate with type 1 diabetes at the examination site. The examination board took note and arranged medical staff to promptly support this candidate during the 2 days of the exam.

On June 6, more than 76,000 candidates in Ho Chi Minh City will take the literature exam (120 minutes) in the morning and the foreign language exam (90 minutes) in the afternoon.
