On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025), many localities have held activities to commend and reward journalists and outstanding journalistic works.
Thai Nguyen honors 50 outstanding journalists and press agencies
On June 18, Thai Nguyen Provincial Party Committee held a ceremony to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day and summarize 10 years of implementing Directive No. 05-CT/TW of the 12th Politburo on "Promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle."
Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Thai Nguyen province Pham Hoang Son affirmed that Thai Nguyen is proud to be the cradle of Vietnam's revolutionary journalism. This is the birthplace of the Vietnam Journalists Association , Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism School, the first journalism training facility of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.
This is also the place where many central press agencies such as Nhan Dan Newspaper, People's Army Newspaper were established and first operated; where many press agencies operated during the resistance war against French colonialism such as Van Nghe Magazine, Cuu Quoc Newspaper, Voice of Vietnam Radio...
The revolutionary press has become a shock force on the ideological and cultural front, contributing to orienting public opinion and encouraging people of all walks of life in the struggle for national liberation, building and defending the Fatherland.
Thai Nguyen currently has three local press agencies; nearly 30 central press agencies have representative offices and resident reporters. Many journalists have produced high-quality works, won press awards at all levels, actively contributing to propaganda and accompanying the development of the province.
Regarding the implementation of Directive No. 05-CT/TW, in the past 10 years, the whole province has deployed more than 4,000 good models and creative ways of doing things; more than 11,800 collectives and individuals have been commended and rewarded. Many typical examples in various fields have been spread, contributing to "multiplying the good, eliminating the bad," strengthening people's trust in the leadership of the Party and the management of the government.
Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Pham Hoang Son requested all levels, sectors, cadres, party members and people in the province to continue to thoroughly grasp and make learning and following Uncle Ho a regular task, associated with Party building, building a clean and strong political system and socio-economic development. At the same time, he requested the team of journalists to continue to maintain political courage, professional ethics, innovate working methods, flexibly adapt to the digital media environment, contributing to building a professional, humane and modern press.
On this occasion, the province commended and rewarded 50 individuals and press agencies with outstanding achievements in propagating about Thai Nguyen province; commended 24 outstanding individuals and groups in implementing Directive No. 05-CT/TW; and awarded prizes in the Press Contest "Bringing the Resolution of the 20th Provincial Party Congress into life."
"Bridge" between Party committees, government and people
The press promptly and objectively reflects all important developments in political, economic and social life; performs well the function of social supervision and criticism, contributing to preventing and repelling the degradation of political ideology, ethics and lifestyle, building and developing Lang Son province.
This was affirmed by the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the People's Council of Lang Son province, Doan Thi Hau, at the ceremony to celebrate and honor outstanding journalists and award the 5th Provincial Press Award on June 18.
The Organizing Committee of the 5th Lang Son Provincial Press Awards 2025 awarded 50 prizes to outstanding works in the following categories: print, electronic, photojournalism, and visual journalism. Of which, there were 4 A prizes, 10 B prizes, 15 C prizes, and 21 Consolation prizes. A reporter from Vietnam News Agency in Lang Son won the C prize in the photojournalism category with the work "Class to eradicate illiteracy - Enlighten intellectuals in Lang Son" and 2 Consolation prizes.
Ms. Doan Thi Hau emphasized that through the press, many of the province's major socio-economic development policies and programs have been widely spread, creating consensus among the people, and attracting the attention, cooperation and sharing of many localities across the country and international friends. The press has also actively contributed to the fight against negativity, reflecting prominent and pressing issues in society.
Based on the press content, provincial leaders have directed sectors and localities to promptly handle and resolve, strengthening people's trust in the leadership of the Party and the management and administration of authorities at all levels.
Recognizing the important role of the press, Lang Son province always creates favorable conditions for press agencies to operate. From 2020 to present, the province has maintained the organization of the Annual Press Awards to encourage, recognize and honor the contributions of journalists to the development of the province.
Ms. Doan Thi Hau suggested that the team of journalists continue to promote the glorious 100-year tradition of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press, improve professional ethics, and truly be a "bridge" between the Party, the government and the people of all ethnic groups in Lang Son province. The press should focus on promoting good models, creative ways of doing things, patriotic emulation movements, good people and good deeds associated with studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style, spreading positive energy, arousing patriotism and aspirations for development.
The press needs to actively criticize manifestations of bureaucracy, corruption, negativity, and social evils; fight against erroneous and hostile viewpoints, contribute to protecting the Party's ideological foundation, maintain political and social stability, and orient public opinion.
Party committees, authorities, agencies and units continue to closely coordinate with press agencies, strictly implement the regulations on spokespersons; provide complete and timely information, create favorable conditions for the press to operate in accordance with the law, well serve the propaganda task and information needs of the people.
Improve the quality of propaganda
On the morning of June 18, in Hau Giang province, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee to organize a summary and award ceremony for the 2025 Traffic Safety Propaganda Journalism Award, as well as the Writing Contest on "Example of good people, good deeds."
Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Minh Tuan assessed that the 2025 Traffic Safety Journalism Award was implemented seriously, practically, economically and effectively. Although the organization time was short and the number of works was not large, the quality of the works and the active participation of the press agencies and authors were recognized and highly appreciated by the Jury. Through the award, press units have more opportunities to exchange, learn, and gradually improve the quality of traffic safety propaganda work in the area.
For the Writing Contest on “Good People, Good Deeds”, although it was organized for the first time, the number of entries was higher than expected, demonstrating the deep concern of all sectors and levels and the positive response of the authors.
The contest contributes to discovering, building and replicating typical examples in the patriotic emulation movement; spreading good practices and effective methods in the community; contributing to encouraging and promoting socio-economic development and strengthening national defense and security in the province.
At the ceremony, the Organizing Committee awarded 4 First Prizes, 4 Second Prizes, 4 Third Prizes and 5 Encouragement Prizes to outstanding works of the Traffic Safety Propaganda Journalism Award 2025; and also awarded 9 prizes to the authors who won the writing contest on "Example of good people, good deeds"./.
