In total, 170 stocks and fund certificates were not eligible for margin lending in Q4 2024.
This includes businesses that incurred losses in the first six months of 2024 or accumulated losses up to the end of June 2024, such as VLA of Van Lang Technology Investment and Development Joint Stock Company, WSS of Wall Street Securities Joint Stock Company, etc. In addition, there are some stocks of companies that received conclusions from the tax authorities regarding violations of tax laws, including VNT of Foreign Trade Transportation and Forwarding Joint Stock Company, NRC of Danh Khoi Group Joint Stock Company, etc.
Previously, the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange (HOSE) also announced a list of 85 securities (including 80 stocks and 5 fund certificates) that were ineligible for margin trading in Q4 2024, an increase of 6 compared to the list announced at the beginning of Q3 2024. In total, in the last quarter of this year, there will be 170 securities that are not allowed to be pledged or traded on margin. This number accounts for approximately 26% of the total number of securities currently traded on HOSE and HNX.
Currently, margin lending regulations only apply to stocks and fund certificates traded on the HOSE and HNX. Meanwhile, the UPCoM market has many stocks of large-capitalization companies, some even worth billions of dollars, such as Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Joint Stock Company (stock code BSR), Viettel International Investment Joint Stock Company (stock code VGI), Masan Consumer Holdings Joint Stock Company (stock code MCH), etc.
