Nghien Village
Nearly 150km from the center of Ha Giang city, Nghien village in the ancient town of Dong Van is home to more than 30 households of Mong and Tay ethnic groups.
Nestled at the foot of the rocky mountains, Nghien village appears with ancient and peaceful houses. The houses here are hundreds of years old, realistically depicting the lives of ethnic minorities.
The houses are built of laterite or stone blocks, with a tubular design. Each house also has symbols and decorative motifs with cultural significance, reflecting the customs and beliefs of the Mong and Tay people.
The earthen walls, stairs, discolored wooden railings, and yin-yang tiled roofs add to the ancient, peaceful beauty. Behind the small village are rolling mountains, a majestic, poetic scene.
With its ancient beauty, Nghien village attracts tens of thousands of tourists from all over the country every year. This is a stopover that makes tourists excited when coming to Dong Van stone plateau.
Lo Lo Chai
Also retaining its pristine beauty, Lo Lo Chai village is located right at the foot of Dragon Mountain, only about 1km from Lung Cu Flagpole. This is the home of the Mong and Lo Lo people for many decades.
The highlight of Lo Lo Chai village is the rammed earth houses with typical architecture of the rocky plateau.
Each house here is hand-built from clay, tightly packed into thick walls, roofed with yin-yang tiles located close together. The warm yellow-brown color of the earthen walls blends with the green of the mountains and forests to create a peaceful, ancient scene.
In Lo Lo Chai, many famous traditional crafts such as carpentry and embroidery are still preserved.
Lung Cam Village
An hour's drive from Lo Lo Chai, Lung Cam village in Sung La commune (Dong Van) is home mainly to the H'Mong, Lo Lo, and Hoa ethnic groups.
The highlight here is the peace and simplicity of the local people. In particular, the rammed earth houses dating back over 100 years contribute to the antiquity.
All were built by hand with available materials such as earth for the walls, tiles, wood and surrounding stone fences. The roof was covered with yin-yang tiles, the walls were made of earth. The color of the tiles blended with the gray color of the rocky mountains, creating a beautiful picture standing out in the middle of the rocky plateau.
Over time, the roofs are covered with a layer of green moss, creating an even more ancient look for the village. The village is surrounded by a series of rocky mountains like a protective wall.
This is also a highlight that attracts many tourists when coming to Dong Van stone plateau.
Amidst a majestic rocky plateau, the pace of life in Lung Cam village slows down, creating a sense of peace. With this beauty, Lung Cam VHDL Village has become the main setting in the film "Pao's Story" adapted from the work "The Jew's Harp Behind the Stone Fence".
