From the afternoon of October 22nd to the early morning of October 23rd, four Vietnamese players competed in the third qualifying round of the 2024 Veghel 3-Cushion Carom Billiards World Cup: Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu, Nguyen Hoan Tat, Nguyen Chi Long, and Le Thanh Tien. Thanh Tu was scheduled to compete in the third qualifying round from the start. Hoan Tat, Chi Long, and Thanh Tien had already excelled in the second qualifying round, finishing first in their group with two consecutive wins. They replicated this achievement in the third qualifying round.
In the third qualifying round, 48 players are divided equally into 16 groups (3 players per group), competing in a single round-robin format to determine rankings. The top player in each group advances to the fourth qualifying round. Each match is played to 35 points, with all players taking turns.
Le Thanh Tien continues his perfect winning record in the third qualifying round.
Hoàn Tất defeated Kokkoris (Greece) 35-23 and Maurer (Austria) 35-28. Nguyễn Chí Long defeated Kiyota (Japan) 35-25 and De Kok (Netherlands) 35-34. Thành Tiến defeated Sung Il-jeong (South Korea) 35-27 and Wilkowski (Netherlands) 35-20. Hoàn Tất, Chí Long, and Thành Tiến excelled, finishing first in their respective groups and advancing to the fourth qualifying round.
Meanwhile, Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu had one win and one loss, finishing second in Group H. However, Thanh Tu was the best-performing second-placed player in the third qualifying round.
Thanh Tu secured a "wildcard" spot to participate in the fourth qualifying round.
Young player Chiêm Hồng Thái (scheduled to compete from the fourth qualifying round) was unable to participate in the 2024 Veghel World Cup due to family matters. Therefore, in addition to the 16 group winners, there was one "wildcard" spot for the best-performing second-place player in the third qualifying round. Coincidentally, this "wildcard" spot went to Nguyễn Trần Thanh Tự.
The fourth qualifying round of the 2024 Veghel World Cup took place from the afternoon of October 23rd to the early morning of October 24th. The Vietnamese billiards team included six players: Tran Thanh Luc, Tran Duc Minh, Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu, Nguyen Hoan Tat, Nguyen Chi Long, and Le Thanh Tien. Of these, Thanh Luc and Duc Minh were scheduled to compete in the fourth qualifying round from the start.
Vietnam and Turkey have the largest number of players in the fourth (final) qualifying round of the 2024 Veghel 3-Cushion Carom Billiards World Cup, with each country having 6 players participating in this round.
