The Chillies band has just released a new song - Dai lo mat troi . This is considered the return of the four boys to pop-rock after previous experiments. Duy Khang - the band leader said: "After wandering through many genres, we realized that the music genre that best expresses the band's 'character' is still rock. However, because rock in Vietnam seems a bit 'difficult', Chillies balanced it by mixing in pop to adapt to a wider audience."
The "interesting" appearance of Chillies members in the MV Dai Lo Mat Troi
The 4 boys of Chillies also revealed many interesting things about the song as well as this international collaboration:
1. The song Dai lo mat troi has 2 audio-visual versions. The first version was just released on the evening of January 4 with a MV filmed in Vung Tau in the "youthful school garden" style. In the MV, the 4 members of the group only appear as cameos (guests), and even if you don't pay close attention, the audience will easily miss their "few seconds" worth of appearance in a 4 minute 31 second MV.
2. On January 11, the group will release another version featuring the voice of Japanese actor of Myanmar origin - Morisaki Win. He is currently an actor and a member of the idol group PrizmaX in Japan, who participated in the blockbuster Ready Player One (directed by Steven Spielberg). This MV was filmed in Japan and records the collaboration between Morisaki Win and Chillies. He is also the one who transcribed the lyrics into Japanese to closely follow the group's lyrics. In addition, Morisaki is also actively learning Vietnamese to harmonize with the band Chillies.
Morisaki Win and Chillies
3. Before Morisaki Win, Chillies also received many collaboration invitations from international artists, but the group felt that the time was not right. In August 2023, Morisaki came to Vietnam and accidentally attended the group's performance on Nguyen Hue walking street (HCMC). He recorded it and then learned about the group and searched for Chillies' personal page on social networks to propose a collaboration. The four guys felt that the Japanese male artist was approachable and very enthusiastic about the invitation, so they decided to collaborate.
4. In October 2023, the group had a cultural exchange performance in Japan and spent 7 days completing all the recording and filming with Morisaki Win.
5. Sun Avenue, like many of the group's other songs, was written by Chillies mainly on the road, while driving because for the group, this is the most exciting time to compose. The group also listened to the demo recording while driving because according to them, this is the most effective way to test!
Member Duy Khang (Chillies, right) practices with singer and actor Morisaki Win for the Vietnamese-Japanese version of the song Dai Lo Mat Troi .
6. Sunset Boulevard is called Sunset Boulevard in English. The "boulevard" in the song is the road associated with Chillies because all four members live along Pham Van Dong Boulevard, Binh Loi Bridge section (HCMC), where the group can comfortably watch the sunset every day without worrying about... traffic jams.
7. The group members all like to watch Korean and Japanese movies, so they have a habit of using suggestive words in their lyrics. Even this MV has the youthful style of Korean and Japanese movies.
8. A few hours before the release of the first MV of Dai Lo Mat Troi, Chillies received the good news that the group will officially debut (make their debut) on Japanese TV, marking a meaningful start of 2024 for the group.
