Anh Vien sets national record by pulling a canoe over 1 km in Ha Long Bay

TPO - Swimmer Nguyen Thi Anh Vien has just completed a 1.14 km canoe pull in 30 minutes and 41 seconds at Coc Cheo beach (Ha Long Bay, Quang Ninh). Accompanying her on the canoe was ball juggling athlete Do Kim Phuc, who performed the performance of continuously juggling the ball throughout the journey without letting it fall.

The canoe is 5m long, 1.8m wide, and can accommodate up to 8 people. The collaboration between Anh Vien and Kim Phuc is a unique combination of endurance sports and performing arts, requiring high levels of technique and endurance.

This achievement has been recognized by the Vietnam Record Association as a national record, marking the longest combined sports and art performance on the sea surface ever in Vietnam.

The event is held within the framework of the Quang Ninh tourism promotion campaign in 2025, under the supervision of record organizations and local management agencies.

Mr. Pham Dinh Huynh, Deputy Head of Ha Long Bay Management Board, commented: "The performance not only demonstrates the spirit of daring to think and daring to do of Vietnamese youth, but also contributes to spreading the message of creativity, striving to pursue passion, and at the same time promoting the majestic beauty of Ha Long Bay to a wide audience at home and abroad."

Nguyen Thi Anh Vien was once a top star of Vietnamese sports. She set SEA Games records in 8 different swimming events. Up to now, only Quah Jing Wen (Singapore) has broken one of the 8 records (200m butterfly at the 31st SEA Games in Vietnam in 2022).
