The speech "touched" the hearts of the listeners

The speaker of the emotional speech was Ngo Cong Tien Anh, a new engineer in mechatronics engineering, School of Mechanical Engineering, Hanoi University of Science and Technology. Tien Anh was born and raised in Moc Chau District ( Son La Province). His father passed away when he was only 9 months old, leaving his mother to work alone on several tea hills to raise Tien Anh and his brother.

“I have a brother who is 8 years older than me. My father passed away early, so my mother had to shoulder the burden of raising us both. If my brother is the one who inspires and guides my learning path, my mother is the great source of motivation to push me to try harder,” Tien Anh shared.

Therefore, whenever he is under pressure from studying, Tien Anh thinks of his mother and continues to move forward. In his speech, there is a passage that says: “I would also like to thank my mother, whom we are always proud to call a farmer with two engineering degrees. My family is my strongest support. With everyone by my side and encouraging me, I have never felt lonely but have always strived with peace of mind.” These words have “touched” the hearts of many people.

The content of the speech was written by this young man himself and with the comments of his teachers. Tien Anh expressed: “This excellent engineering degree is like a gift and a deep thank you that I want to send to my mother. The reason I call my mother a farmer with two engineering degrees is because my brother also graduated as an engineer from Hanoi University of Science and Technology.”

After Tien Anh's speech was shared on the Hanoi University of Science and Technology's fanpage, it attracted 1.7 million viewers and 53,000 reactions. At the same time, the new engineer also received many words of encouragement and congratulations. Tien Anh could not hide his happiness: "Those are my sincere feelings, I am so happy that everyone has given so much love to it."

The new engineer also shared: “My mother is the motivation for me to try hard in my studies. Although my family's circumstances are difficult, I am fortunate to receive a lot of encouragement from everyone. Moreover, when I entered university, my brother had already graduated and started working, so he helped my mother a lot. Thanks to that, I was able to focus on my studies.”

Despite his family's difficult circumstances, Tien Anh did not neglect his studies. After 5 years of hard work in the university, Tien Anh graduated with honors as an engineer with a cumulative average score of 3.69/4.0. This engineer was also the valedictorian of the Mechanical Engineering School.

Tien Anh said that right from the beginning of his studies, he set goals and made a study plan for all 5 years. “In my first year, I only set the goal of graduating with honors and made short-term plans for each semester. During my studies, I raised my goals higher and updated my plan flexibly according to my abilities at each stage. Once I had a clear plan, I could easily achieve my study goals and at the same time allocate time to gain more outside experiences such as research or working in businesses,” Tien Anh shared.

In addition to studying, Tien Anh also spends time working part-time and gaining practical experience. “I started working part-time in my first year of university, but at that time I only did manual work because I had no experience or knowledge. At the end of my third year, I started looking for jobs related to my major to gain experience and gain new knowledge. At the same time, I gained experience in businesses to apply what I had learned in practice,” Tien Anh said.

The engineer also said that he has experienced many jobs in different fields to have a more multi-dimensional view of the path he is pursuing. Currently, Tien Anh is working at FPT Software Corporation as a programmer.

Dr. Tao Ngoc Linh, lecturer at the School of Mechanical Engineering (Hanoi University of Science and Technology), commented: “Tien Anh is an excellent student. During his studies and research, he has proven his ability. Therefore, I nominated Tien Anh to be the lab leader to manage and help other students."

"Not only is Tien Anh good at studying and researching, but his ability to work outside of the business is also extremely outstanding. During his internship, I introduced Tien Anh to a company and received very good feedback about his ability. After finishing his internship, they offered to keep Tien Anh on with a fairly high salary. It can be seen that even though he has not graduated yet, he has worked as an engineer. Notably, this young man has never used his difficulties as a reason to stop trying," Dr. Tao Ngoc Linh shared more.
