Bangkok will retain its position as the city with the most international visitors by 2025, with more than 30.3 million, according to a report released on December 2 by Euromonitor International. The city will surpass Hong Kong and London, but the number of visitors will still decrease by nearly 7% compared to 32.4 million in 2024.

2025 ranking picture
Travel experts say Bangkok attracts visitors thanks to its open tourism policy. Among the most visited cities, Hong Kong ranked second with 23.2 million visitors, London ranked third with 22.7 million, and Macao, the "Las Vegas of China", ranked fourth with 20.4 million visitors.
Euromonitor International also published a ranking of destination attractiveness based on six pillars including economic performance, business tourism, infrastructure, policy, safety and sustainability. On this scale, Paris ranked first, followed by Madrid and Tokyo; Bangkok was not in the top 10.

Trend 2025: from quantity to quality
According to Euromonitor International, the strategy of tourist cities is shifting from increasing quantity to improving the quality of experiences, in order to solve the problem of overcrowding. The destination prioritizes long-stay guests, high spending and awareness of protecting the environment and local culture.
Faced with security concerns, inflation, and a surge in visitors, many countries are adjusting entry fees and accelerating electronic licensing systems. Specifically, the UK and the US have both increased entry fees by 2025. The European Union plans to introduce a higher-fee Travel Authorization System (ETIAS). In Asia, Japan is considering increasing visa fees and building a new electronic licensing system, expected to be operational by 2028.
