Attending the award ceremony were leaders of Binh Phuoc province, leaders of the Vietnam Journalists Association (Southern region), and representatives of press agencies in the region.
The Southeast Region Press Award is held annually to promptly honor and encourage journalists, reporters, editors, collaborators and resident reporters at press agencies in the Southeast region with excellent quality works published in 2024.
Participants in the award include journalists, members of the Journalists Association, and reporters working at press agencies in provinces and cities in the region including Binh Phuoc, Binh Duong , Tay Ninh, Dong Nai, Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Binh Thuan.
This year, the Organizing Committee received nearly 200 entries in four categories of journalism: print, online, radio and television. After the preliminary round, the 80 best entries were selected for the final round.
As a result, the Jury decided to award 22 prizes, including 2 First prizes, 4 Second prizes, 6 Third prizes and 10 Encouragement prizes for 4 types of journalism.
Tay Ninh Newspaper has two award-winning works, including the 4-part series "Sending trust in the endoscopy in the Party" by the group of authors Dong Viet Thang and Nguyen Thi Phuong Thuy, which won the third prize; the 4-part series "For the sacred Fatherland" by author Vu Thi Nguyet, which won the encouragement prize.
Tay Ninh Radio and Television Station has a television reportage "Keeping the green on the outpost islands" by the group of authors Sy Cong and The Giang won third prize.
According to the evaluation of the Jury of the 3rd Southeast Region Press Awards - 2025, many award-winning works have high discovery, rich sources of documents, unique perspectives, creating healthy competition among authors, while improving professional standards of regional journalism.
Besides socio-economic topics, many authors focus on exploiting humane everyday stories or less-noticed issues such as preserving ethnic minority culture, sustainable development and the environment.
Regarding the radio genre, although the number of participating works is not much, the works closely follow the "hot" current issues that are of public interest, such as Party building, streamlining the apparatus, studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality, and style, digital transformation, and other people's issues.
Many works are carefully invested in content and form, applying modern radio style, distributed on multiple platforms, ensuring authenticity and objectivity. Some outstanding works have recorded and vividly reflected advanced examples, contributing to spreading good examples in the community.
For the television category, the number of entries this year has decreased compared to last season, but the quality has improved, the topics are diverse, close to reality and bring many new perspectives. Some works show innovation in production thinking, meeting the requirements of modern television.
However, the short reportage genre, which has great appeal to audiences, has not received adequate investment. Many works still suffer from shortcomings such as conventional presentation, uncreative language, or inappropriate voice.
To raise the level of the award in the future, works need to focus more on diversity, modernize the way of expression and invest systematically in both content and technique. In particular, for print newspapers, the Jury recommends that journalists need to invest in topics and subjects that have stature, analysis, interpretation and commentary that are convincing and attractive.
Following the success, the 4th Southeast Journalism Award is scheduled to be held in 2026, including 4 types of journalism (print, electronic, radio and television). The organizers hope that the award will continue to attract a large number of journalists in the region, gradually affirming its position as a professional and prestigious playground, not only for members of the Southeast Journalists Association, but also for all journalists nationwide.
Speaking at the award ceremony, Ms. Tran Tuyet Minh, Vice Chairman of Binh Phuoc Provincial People's Committee, congratulated the authors and groups of authors whose works won the 3rd Southeast Region Press Award - 2025; at the same time, highly appreciated the press's support for the socio-economic development of the provinces in the Southeast region in general and Binh Phuoc province in particular.
On this occasion, Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper presented 2,000 national flags; awarded 50 scholarships worth 50 million VND to support poor students and students in difficult circumstances in Binh Phuoc province; Vietnam Traffic Safety Association presented 300 helmets to students and award-winning journalists.
