Preserving and promoting the cultural identity of ethnic groups in Buon Ho town

On November 15, the Town Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Buon Ho town held the inauguration ceremony of the Kli A Cultural Area Exhibition Space, Dat Hieu ward and summarized the implementation of the 2024 Special Topic "Preserving and promoting the cultural identity of ethnic groups in Buon Ho town in the cause of national construction and defense".

In 2023, Buon Ho town started construction of the Cultural Area, the Long House and the Buon KliA water wharf, and the exhibition space, which have now been completed and put into use. This is a practical project to celebrate the 120th anniversary of the establishment of Dak Lak province of Buon Ho town. This is also a traditional cultural project of the Ede ethnic group with large-scale and synchronous investment, creating a highlight of the cultural space, preserving and conserving cultural values; a model in implementing the work of preserving and maintaining the cultural features of the ethnic communities of Buon Ho town, especially the local ethnic minorities.

In early 2024, Buon Ho town called on collectives and individuals to donate traditional cultural documents and artifacts to serve the work of preserving and promoting the cultural identity of ethnic groups displayed at the Kli A Cultural House. After 3 calls and mobilizations, 55 collectives and individuals donated 66 valuable documents/artifacts that were displayed in a certain scientific order; the images and tables were presented using graphic methods on compact, modern materials combined with the display of typical documents and artifacts such as: gong sets, traditional costumes, buffalo skin drums, ancient jars, bronze pots, musical instruments, farming tools, and livelihood items of ethnic groups in Buon Ho town through the ages.

Implementing the 2024 theme "Preserving and promoting the cultural identity of ethnic groups in Buon Ho town in the cause of national construction and protection", the Standing Committee of the Town Party Committee has issued many documents to lead, direct, and organize implementation with focus and key points. Specifically, registering to train and cultivate the qualities and ethics of Party members and cadres according to the motto "3 no - 3 yes" in the spirit of studying and following Uncle Ho and the spirit of Conclusion No. 21-KL/TW on Party building associated with the commitment to well implement the preservation and promotion of national cultural identity; organizing thematic activities with the content "Self-reflection, self-correction in preserving and promoting the cultural identity of ethnic groups in Buon Ho town"; continuing to build the "Golden Hammer and Sickle Savings Book" to help Party members who are ethnic minorities in the locality with difficult circumstances at the twinned unit.

During the year, the entire Party Committee of the town established 102 Golden Hammer and Sickle savings books with a total amount of over 417 million VND, presented to 99 party members in difficult circumstances in the twinned villages and at the agencies and units. In addition, a project was developed to restore and develop traditional craft villages of ethnic minorities in Buon Ho town; improve the quality of the Hang Po Festival in Ea Sien commune; encourage the organization of traditional festivals of ethnic minorities with the motto of partial state support and self-organization by the people; promote the cultural and artistic movement, especially the organization of cultural activities according to the good customs and practices of ethnic minorities throughout the area, down to remote areas and ethnic minority areas.

In addition, the town has increased investment, upgraded and built new cultural institutions to preserve and promote the cultural identity of the ethnic groups in Buon Ho town from the state budget and socialized sources of cultural activities.

On this occasion, Buon Ho City Party Committee awarded certificates of merit to 10 collectives and 16 individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing the 2024 theme; awarded certificates to collectives and individuals who donated artifacts in the third phase, 2024.
