In the digital age, the use of social media applications and platforms has become an indispensable part of learning, entertainment and communication for teenagers. However, along with the conveniences, there are many risks.

Officers from the Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department ( Thai Nguyen Provincial Police) showed a clip about the sophisticated tactics of fraudsters impersonating police officers.

In response to this situation, the Thai Nguyen Provincial Police Department launched the "Not Alone - Staying Safe Online Together" campaign in schools across the province, aiming to build a safe and healthy online environment for young people.

At Chua Hang I Secondary School in Linh Son ward, through simulated scenarios, multiple-choice questions and answers, video clips, and live sharing, police officers helped students identify the sophisticated tactics of cybercriminals and guided them on how to avoid being lured or scammed in the online environment.

Le Hai Yen, a student in class 9B, shared: "Online kidnapping involves people sending messages to lure and control you, preventing you from contacting anyone in any way, and arranging to meet in person. Scams, on the other hand, can involve impersonating delivery people, calling or texting to extort money from you."

Mr. Duong Van Truong, Principal of Chua Hang I Secondary School, said: "For students, a click or a touch on a smartphone can unlock a wealth of knowledge, but it can also lead to unforeseen risks. Therefore, we always advise parents and students to clearly identify safe information online; and to use phones and social media correctly, for learning and developing life skills."

At Dai Tu High School, the awareness campaign is not limited to students but also involves parents. Mr. Ta Hong Minh, Head of the Parent Representative Board of Dai Tu High School, shared: "Previously, I only thought my children used phones for studying and watching entertainment videos , so I didn't closely monitor them. But after the awareness campaign, I realized there are many sophisticated tricks that adults might not even notice if they're not paying attention. Now I usually spend time talking to my children every evening, asking them what they're studying, what they're watching, and who they're talking to online. I want to be their friend so they don't hesitate to share."

Lieutenant Colonel Ma Thai Son, Deputy Head of the Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department of the Thai Nguyen Provincial Police, said: In recent times, high-tech crimes have tended to target young people through social media applications, online games, or enticing messages.

In Thai Nguyen province, there was also a case where a student residing in Hoang Van Thu ward was "kidnapped online" and was successfully rescued by the police. The important thing is that students must know how to share their experiences and seek help from teachers, family, or authorities when they are in danger.

The "Not Alone - Staying Safe Online Together" campaign is not just a propaganda program, but a reminder to the entire community: Do not leave young people alone in the face of cyber dangers, and do not "self-isolate" but share and seek support when facing risks. Do not let clicks become a source of fear, but rather a gateway to knowledge, joy, and positive connection.
