| Officers of the Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department ( Thai Nguyen Provincial Police) show a clip about the sophisticated tricks of a scammer impersonating a police officer. |
Faced with that reality, Thai Nguyen Provincial Police deployed the Campaign "Not alone - Together online safety" at schools in the area, aiming to build a safe and healthy online environment for teenagers.
At Chua Hang I Secondary School, Linh Son Ward, through hypothetical situations, multiple choice questions and answers, watching clips, and sharing directly, police officers helped students identify sophisticated tricks of cybercriminals, and at the same time instructed them on how to avoid being lured and scammed in the online environment.
Le Hai Yen, a 9B student, shared: Online kidnapping is when someone can send messages to entice and control you, not allowing you to contact or communicate with anyone in any way and arrange to meet outside. As for scammers, they can pretend to be a delivery person, call or send messages to take your money.
Teacher Duong Van Truong, Principal of Chua Hang I Secondary School, said: For students, a click or a touch on a smartphone can open up a wealth of knowledge, but it can also be the door to unpredictable risks. Therefore, we always recommend that parents and students need to clearly identify information about safety on the internet; at the same time, use phones and social networks properly, serving the purpose of studying and practicing life skills.
At Dai Tu High School, the propaganda is not only used by students but also has the participation of parents. Mr. Ta Hong Minh, Head of the Parents' Representative Board of Dai Tu High School, shared: Before, I only thought that my children used phones to study and watch entertaining videos , so I did not control them closely. But after the propaganda session, I saw that there are many sophisticated tricks that adults would find difficult to detect if they did not pay attention. Now I often spend time talking to my children every night, asking them what they study, what they watch, and who they talk to online. I want to be their friend so they are not afraid to share.
Lieutenant Colonel Ma Thai Son, Deputy Head of the Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department, Thai Nguyen Provincial Police, said: Recently, high-tech criminals have tended to target young people through social networking applications, online games or enticing messages.
In Thai Nguyen province, there was also a case where the victim was a student, currently living in Hoang Van Thu ward, who was "kidnapped online" and was successfully rescued by the police. The important thing is that students should know how to share and seek help from teachers, family or authorities when in danger.
The campaign “Not alone - Together online safety” is not just a propaganda program, but a reminder for the whole community: Do not let young people be alone in the face of dangers in cyberspace and do not “isolate yourself” but share and seek support when facing risks. Do not let clicks become fear, but must be the door to open knowledge, joy, and positive connections.
