Currently, the province has over 405,000 children, including nearly 4,500 children in special circumstances; over 38,000 children at risk of falling into special circumstances; tens of thousands of children from poor and near-poor households; 192 children orphaned by both parents; 31 abandoned children; 50 homeless children; nearly 4,000 children with disabilities; 54 children infected with HIV; and 140 children suffering from serious illnesses.
Recognizing that the care, protection, and education of children is a crucial task contributing to social stability, the relevant authorities at all levels and sectors of the province have reached a consensus and actively participated, creating a safe environment for children to live, study, play, and develop.
Accordingly, 100% of children in special circumstances receive care and attention; 100% of children attend school at the appropriate age; 100% of children under 6 years old are issued health insurance cards; and nearly 100% of children under 1 year old receive all necessary vaccinations.
Every year, the Department of Education and Training and the Provincial Police Department jointly organize awareness campaigns for students on the Road Traffic Law, safe traffic participation; crime prevention and control, and illegal acts that harm children and school violence.
The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Department of Education and Training jointly organized a competition for students of all levels to learn about moral education, lifestyle in the family, and cultural behavior in schools; organized the Book and Reading Culture Day program; and a children's storytelling competition based on books.
Throughout the province, children belonging to policy-eligible groups who are attending school are exempt from tuition fees as prescribed, ensuring their right to education. In all localities, 100% of orphaned children, abandoned children, and children in difficult circumstances receive timely care and assistance.
Social organizations such as the Women's Union and the Provincial Youth Union actively mobilize philanthropists to support, sponsor, and care for children in the community who are found to be in special circumstances.
The member units of the Committee for the Protection, Care, and Education of Children actively coordinate to organize forums on the following topics: Preventing and combating violence and abuse against children; Children talking about their rights; Parents and the management and education of children in the family to prevent crime and social evils.
In many cases, children receive legal advice from the Department of Justice and participate in litigation to protect their legitimate rights and interests. Dozens of training courses are held annually, with thousands of participants including commune-level officials working with children, collaborators, parents, and caregivers, on topics such as: preventing accidents and injuries to children; self-protection skills for children; comprehensive care for children in their early years; and thousands of copies of the communication materials "What do you know about child labor?" are printed and distributed free of charge to the public...

Alongside local authorities, organizations, businesses, and philanthropists directly participate in sponsoring and helping disadvantaged children overcome difficulties in life and education. Thanks to this, thousands of children receive gifts during holidays and festivals. Hundreds of children are given bicycles through the "Road of Dreams" program.
Hundreds of children were screened and scheduled for surgery, provided with orthopedic devices, and given wheelchairs. Many children from disadvantaged backgrounds received support for congenital heart surgery; and support for surgical intervention to correct the lip and palate for children with cleft palate.
The achievements in the protection, care, and education of children in Thai Nguyen are vivid evidence of the synchronized and effective involvement of the entire political system and society. The province has been and continues to promote propaganda, raise awareness and responsibility among all levels of the population; and at the same time, build more child-friendly models, ensuring that all children live in a safe and happy environment.
