Officers and soldiers shoveled soil into bags and brought them to reinforce low dike positions at risk of landslides.
Previously, on the evening of October 26, in Hung Dien commune, there was a heavy rain that lasted for many hours, causing the water level in canals, ditches, and rice fields to rise by 10-15cm. In Song Trang and Bung Ram hamlets, water was likely to overflow some low dike sections, threatening to flood about 300 hectares of rice with only about two weeks left until harvest.
Officers and soldiers use boats to carry bags of soil to reinforce low dike points.
Upon receiving the news, the Command of Song Trang Border Guard Station quickly mobilized two working groups with dozens of officers, soldiers, and necessary tools and materials to coordinate with the authorities and people to urgently handle and reinforce the dike. The local forces divided into many groups, reinforced and rebuilt the weak dike positions, and compacted the eroded sections.
Officers and soldiers soak in water to help people reinforce dikes to protect rice fields.
Lieutenant Colonel Bui Ngoc Thiep - Political Commissar of Song Trang Border Guard Station, said: "As soon as we received information that the rising water level could affect production, the unit proactively mobilized forces to support people in reinforcing the dike. Many weak sections of the dike have been firmly reinforced, minimizing the risk of water overflowing into the rice fields"./.
