On September 22, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tran Luu Quang received CEO Sakchai Patiparnpreechavud and several members of the board of directors of SCG Vietnam. Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Bui Xuan Cuong also attended.

At the reception, Mr. Tran Luu Quang affirmed that Ho Chi Minh City always considers SCG a strategic partner.

SCG Vietnam is currently one of the largest investors of Thai enterprises in Vietnam. The group has invested a total of 7.1 billion USD, owns 28 companies and more than 50 factories, operating in core areas such as petrochemicals, packaging, cement, construction materials, distribution and logistics.

The Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee said that after merging with Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau , the city's scale expanded, creating more investment space for corporations, including SCG Vietnam.

He suggested that Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam are moving towards green development, with many incentives for renewable energy projects, so SCG can consider expanding investment in this field in addition to the petrochemical industry.

Mr. Sakchai Patiparnpreechavud affirmed that SCG always highly appreciates the development potential of Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City. He emphasized that developing a green and sustainable economy is the orientation of SCG and the group wishes to become a partner of the city in this field.

SCG Vietnam expressed its wish to continue receiving support from Ho Chi Minh City in promoting ongoing projects, including the Long Son petrochemical complex and the packaging paper factory in the My Phuoc 3 Industrial Park, which are facing difficulties.

Mr. Tran Luu Quang said that after Ho Chi Minh City completes the arrangement of the administrative apparatus and is decentralized and delegated more proactively, administrative procedures will be simpler, contributing to speeding up the progress of investment projects. He assigned the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to promptly support SCG Vietnam in removing difficulties.
