The two remaining Vietnamese representatives in the round of 16 of the 2025 World Carom Billiards 3-Cushion Championship, Tran Thanh Luc and Bao Phuong Vinh, both accepted defeat and stopped.

The 16-player knockout round of the 2025 World Championship of 3-cushion billiards has two Vietnamese representatives competing, including Tran Thanh Luc and Bao Phuong Vinh. Accordingly, Thanh Luc will face Martin Horn (Germany), while Phuong Vinh will face Berkay Karakurt (Turkey).

In the match that took place on the afternoon of October 17, Tran Thanh Luc had no chance to fight back against Horn, who was in excellent form and had just won the World Cup billiards tournament in Antwerp, Belgium. The German player had 2 series of 10s, 1 series of 8s and finished the match quickly after only 14 rounds. Martin Horn won the match with a score difference of 50-14.

Meanwhile, Bao Phuong Vinh’s defeat made Vietnamese billiards fans feel even more regretful. The 1995-born player had a dream start against Berkay Karakurt, scoring 18 points after only the first 3 rounds of the match (including a series of 7 and 8 points). However, the Turkish player showed that he was no pushover, as he chased fiercely, not allowing Phuong Vinh to create a big gap.

Bao Phuong Vinh brought the match into halftime in the 15th inning, leading 28-25. But in the second half, the wind changed direction. The Vietnamese player was stuck in an unfavorable situation. At this time, Karakurt broke away to surpass Phuong Vinh and won 50-38, after 25 innings.

Thus, Vietnamese billiards no longer has any representative in the quarter-finals of the 2025 World Championship. In the round for the 8 strongest players, Cho Myung-woo is the only player from the Asian 3-cushion carom village to participate.
