To help people with meritorious services and policy families in the province have a more stable life, the Party Committee and the Provincial Military Command have led and directed the implementation of policy activities for the Army and the Army's rear. The activities were carried out to show gratitude and commemorate the great contributions of heroic martyrs, wounded soldiers, sick soldiers, policy families and people with meritorious services to the revolution. This is also an important occasion to propagate and educate the tradition of patriotism, raising awareness and responsibility of today's generation for the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
Mr. Le Dinh Dinh (born in 1954), a 61% disabled veteran in Quang Chinh commune, welcomed the delegation of the Provincial Military Command with tearful eyes and a gentle smile. Although they had been introduced to his family's circumstances in advance, when they directly witnessed his residence, living conditions and the difficulties that his family had quietly overcome over the years, the delegation could not help but be moved.
Enlisted in February 1974, belonging to units C4, D7, E3, F9, Army Corps 4, Mr. Dinh fought with his comrades on fierce battlefields from Tay Ninh, Binh Phuoc , Highway 13 to neighboring Cambodia. The life-and-death battles that took place in areas sprayed with toxic chemicals caused the young soldier that year to not only suffer physical injuries, but also suffer long-term consequences from exposure to Agent Orange. In a slow voice, he said: “The bare forests, dead trees... were where we lived and fought; eating, living, bathing in a toxic environment, no one thought the consequences would follow them for the rest of their lives. After the war, we thought things would be peaceful, but the pain did not stop when our children were born with disabilities one after another...”.
For many years, Mr. Dinh and his wife quietly raised four children with imperfect bodies, in a difficult economic situation, poor health, without complaint, without blame. Above all, he always maintained the spirit of a soldier, resilient, optimistic and silently sacrificed for his family, for his country. The visit and gift-giving from the Thanh Hoa Provincial Military Command was not only a material gift but also a deep gratitude sent to that loyal soldier who devoted his youth to the Fatherland. For Mr. Dinh, it was the greatest encouragement in the quiet but determined days.
In addition, the Provincial Military Command actively participated in the "Repaying gratitude" activities organized by the province, directing units to coordinate with localities to organize many practical activities such as: Repairing martyrs' cemeteries, building gratitude houses, providing free medical examinations and medicines, lighting candles in gratitude and cultural and artistic activities to honor people with meritorious services; fully implementing policies and regimes, ensuring correct, sufficient, timely and transparent payment of regimes according to Decisions No. 49, 62 and 142 of the Prime Minister for 1,532 subjects. The review and verification work was carried out seriously, following the correct procedures, avoiding errors and duplication.
Colonel Nguyen Xuan Toan, Deputy Political Commissar of the Provincial Military Command, said: Caring for and helping people with meritorious services and families with preferential policies is the duty and responsibility of the whole society, including cadres, employees and soldiers of the provincial military. Implementing the policies of the Party, the State, the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense, Military Region 4, Thanh Hoa province, the Provincial Military Command is promoting the construction of gratitude houses, comrade houses, and eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses to give to policy beneficiaries and military families with housing difficulties. Each house that is renovated and built contains the deep concern, gratitude, and warm and sincere feelings of cadres and soldiers towards those who have contributed to the homeland and the country.
With a sense of responsibility, deep gratitude and the synchronous participation of Party committees and commanders at all levels, the policy activities of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Military Command on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2025) not only contributed to better care for the material and spiritual life of those with meritorious services, but also aroused pride, revolutionary tradition, and strengthened the solidarity relationship between the army and the people with one will.
