Border Guard organizes training on combating IUU fishing

On April 23, the General Staff - Border Guard Command (BĐBP) organized an online conference to train on the fight against illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing in 2025 with 29 locations. At the Khanh Hoa location, members of the Provincial Border Guard Command, commanders of professional departments, station chiefs, squadron chiefs, deputy station chiefs, and station chiefs of border stations attended.

At the conference, delegates were informed about the situation and results of combating IUU fishing from 2017 to present; advantages, difficulties and solutions in the coming time; the situation of Vietnamese fishing vessels violating foreign waters, brokerage activities, and connections to bring fishing vessels and fishermen to foreign waters to illegally exploit seafood; instructions on handling IUU fishing violations according to Decree No. 38 of the Government and handling IUU violations according to Decree No. 04 of the Council of Judges of the Supreme People's Court .

Delegates were also informed about the coordination between the fisheries sector, fisheries surveillance and the Border Guard; the mobilization of forces and means of the Border Guard in performing the tasks of managing and protecting the sovereignty of seas and islands, fighting and preventing crimes and ensuring security and order in the maritime border area.
