According to the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information, Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC), although it has been popular with new users for about 3 years, Tiktok , a social network from China, has put Vietnam in 6th place among the 10 countries with the most TikTok users in the world .

It is worth mentioning that recently on the social network TikTok, there has been an increasing amount of bad, toxic, offensive content, false information, superstition...

Unlike Facebook, TikTok suggests content to viewers using its own algorithm. This also means that bad content and false information can also appear continuously in front of viewers due to algorithmic suggestions.

Given the above situation, the Ministry of Information and Communications will conduct a comprehensive inspection of the TikTok social networking platform. The inspection is expected to begin in May 2023.

Mr. Le Quang Tu Do, Director of the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information, said that TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube are all cross-border social networking platforms. They have community standards that apply globally.

"However, when entering Vietnam, these platforms must comply with Vietnamese law, including not only content management but also tax, payment, and advertising obligations..." - Mr. Le Quang Tu Do said.

According to DataReportal, as of February, Vietnam currently has about 49.9 million users of the social network TikTok. Along with Facebook, Zalo, YouTube, this is currently one of the most popular social networks in Vietnam.
