DNO - On the afternoon of December 13th, in response to a question from delegate Dinh Vui, Deputy Head of the Urban Planning Committee of the City People's Council, regarding the "fate" of the remaining section of the Western Ring Road 2 project, the Director of the Department of Planning and Investment, Tran Thi Thanh Tam, stated that, as of this time, the project (the section from Hai Van - Tuy Loan road to Road No. 8 in Hoa Khanh Industrial Park and the section passing through the Biotechnology Center) has been inspected and put into operation at the end of November 2023.

According to Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Tam, for the remaining section of this project (approximately 8 km), the City's Priority Infrastructure Management Board is coordinating with relevant units to make adjustments in accordance with the city's general planning adjustment until 2030, with a vision to 2045, which has been approved by the Prime Minister .
This includes adjusting the section passing through the previously planned new railway station area and adjusting the intersection with National Highway 14B to extend the western ring road 2, connecting with the Hoa Phuoc-Hoa Khuong road via the DT605 road.
"The completion of the road according to the plan will be carried out in stages after the completion of adjustments to the zoning plan, detailed plan, and after the city ensures the resources to carry out the land clearance and compensation work," Ms. Tam said.
The city also proposed phasing the investment for the remaining portion to ensure feasibility, alignment with the revised plan, and the city's resources.
Accordingly, the period from 2023-2027 will involve developing a plan to adjust the detailed planning for the remaining section of the Western Ring Road 2. The period from 2024-2028 will continue with the investment and completion of the Western Ring Road 2 section from Hoan Van Thai Street to DT605 road, passing through Cam Le District.

Presiding over the questioning session, Chairman of the City People's Council Luong Nguyen Minh Triet affirmed that investing in the Western Ring Road 2 project is essential and contributes to promoting economic development in many areas.
However, to ensure the effective investment in this project, it is suggested that the Department of Planning and Investment proactively coordinate with relevant sectors and localities to develop a plan, allocate specific resources, ensure synchronized transportation connections, and strengthen inspection and supervision to prevent illegal construction and expansion, which could lead to complex consequences.
