As reported by Tuoi Tre Online , according to feedback from voters in Ho Chi Minh City, motorbike insurance is still a mandatory document required when people participate in traffic by motorbike.
However, nowadays many people buy this insurance product just to deal with the authorities, instead of caring about their rights.
Therefore, voters recommend adjusting regulations on purchasing motorbike insurance so that it should be voluntary and not mandatory for people.
Buying is easy, paying compensation is too difficult
Completely agreeing and supporting this suggestion, reader Kieu Phong shared: "I was in a serious traffic accident twice. I completed all the required paperwork to receive insurance compensation but never received any money because the requirements were like riddles."
Sharing the same view, reader Anh Vu commented: "Support this reasonable proposal. Only those who have been involved in motorbike insurance compensation can see how difficult and complicated this process is."
"It's true that buying is easy, but compensation is difficult. Vehicle owners should not be forced to buy motorbike insurance" - reader Vy Oanh commented.
According to reader Trang Nguyen: "The mandatory regulation to buy insurance for motorbikes should be removed. Those who need it should buy it, those who don't should not."
Reader Thanh said: "Insurance compensation is 500,000 VND but the cost of travel back and forth is 700,000 VND. I support the proposal to abolish compulsory insurance for motorbikes."
"It's rare to see motorbike insurance that covers accidents, fires, theft... So it's best to buy voluntarily" - reader Ma Vinh Trinh wrote.
Reader Son Tran: "It's very easy to buy, the selling price is different in each place, the procedures are complicated, waiting for conclusions, appraisals... too many requirements when claiming compensation. Suggest removing the requirement to buy motorbike insurance. Only let buyers do it voluntarily."
Agreeing, reader Tieu Dong Phong suggests that buying motorbike insurance should only be voluntary. If the buyer really enjoys the benefits, they will proactively buy it.
Voluntary purchase according to needs, different high and low levels
According to pham****@gmail.com: "People should be allowed to buy motorbike insurance voluntarily and at different levels according to their needs. Only then can we encourage people to buy it to be protected."
"If it is still mandatory to buy, insurance companies must be strictly managed to comply with the law" - reader nicknamed nt11nar commented.
Reader diem****@gmail.com expressed: "If the insurance company representative is present at the accident in time to verify the incident, then motorbike insurance is necessary.
If an accident occurs and people do not have the opportunity to have enough evidence to provide to the authorities, then motorbike insurance is just a formality.
Reader Nguyen Dinh said: "Upon receiving notification of an accident, within one hour the insurance company must guide the vehicle owner through the claim documents and procedures. Within 24 hours, the organization will assess the loss, determine the cause and extent of the loss as a basis for settling the insurance claim.
That's the rule, but everyone knows what the reality is!
Motorcycle insurance is essential
Speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , Ms. Ho Thi Ngoc Nhu - an expert from the Academy of Insurance and Financial Risk Management (IFRM) - said that compulsory civil liability insurance for motor vehicle owners (motorcycle insurance) is a very necessary product.
When one person causes an accident to another, insurance will compensate the victim. This helps reduce the financial burden, not having to pay compensation out of pocket, especially for those in difficult circumstances.
"In fact, I have also witnessed some cases where insurance covers medicine and treatment... However, this development seems to be quite rare.
Many people currently buy this insurance to deal with the authorities, but do not have faith that they will be compensated in case of an incident, and at the same time feel inconvenienced when having to work with some parties," Ms. Nhu said.
Therefore, it is important that the Department of Insurance Management and Supervision ( Ministry of Finance ) must have clear procedures, solutions, and mechanisms to monitor the handling of compensation thoroughly and quickly, helping people to trust.
Only then will motorbike insurance truly play its role in social security."
