According to The Standard (Hong Kong), the news of Hui Siu-hung's death was confirmed by his family through his close friend, television presenter Luisa Maria Leitao. According to the statement, he passed away early this morning due to multiple organ failure caused by complications from cancer.
In recent years, Hui Siu-hung has appeared less frequently on screen and moved to Singapore to live with his family and enjoy his retirement. He is known as an exemplary father, devoted to his daughter.
After his daughter got married late last year, he invested over HK$10 million to help her start a chain of cafes and bakeries in Singapore, hoping she could pursue her passion.

Hsu Shao-Hung was born on November 4, 1948, in Guangzhou. He began his artistic career in 1972, making his debut in director Chang Cheh's film Young People .
