
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, there is currently a storm with the international name KALMAEGI active in the East Sea of the Philippines. At 7:00 p.m. on November 2, the center of storm KALMAEGI was at about 11.3 degrees North latitude; 131.2 degrees East longitude with the strongest wind near the center of the storm at level 10 (89-102 km/h), gusting to level 13. It is forecast that by November 5, the storm will enter the central East Sea with winds at level 13, gusting to level 17 and heading towards the mainland of the Central region - an area that has been severely damaged by floods in recent days.
To proactively respond to storms and post-storm floods, the National Steering Committee for Civil Defense requested the People's Committees of the above provinces and cities to closely monitor warning bulletins, forecasts and developments of storms; notify captains and owners of vehicles and vessels operating at sea to proactively prevent and have appropriate production plans, ensuring safety of people and property; maintain communication to promptly handle bad situations that may occur.
Provinces and cities in the Central region review and prepare to deploy response plans for strong storms and floods after storms.
Ministries and branches, according to their state management functions and tasks and assigned tasks, proactively direct and coordinate with localities to respond to storms and floods.
The above units are ready with forces and means to deploy rescue work when there is a situation. At the same time, they organize serious duty and regularly report to the National Civil Defense Steering Committee (through the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control - Ministry of Agriculture and Environment ).
