Cars are allowed to run on the Mai Son - National Highway 45 (Ninh Binh - Thanh Hoa) from April 29, except for trucks over 10 tons, according to the announcement of the Ministry of Transport .
After the opening ceremony on April 29, cars will be allowed to run on the Mai Son - National Highway 45 with 4 lanes, maximum designed speed of 80 km/h, minimum 60 km/h. Motorbikes, motorbikes, rudimentary vehicles, tractors, and specialized motorbikes are prohibited from circulating.
During the temporary operation period (until December 31, 2023), the Ministry of Transport prohibits trucks over 10 tons and specialized motorbikes from running on the highway, except for fire trucks, ambulances, construction vehicles, maintenance and rescue vehicles.
In addition, at the Gia Mieu intersection (National Highway 217B) to Dong Xuan intersection (National Highway 45 intersecting with National Highway 47), the Ministry of Transport prohibits vehicles carrying more than 16 people; at the Ha Linh intersection (National Highway 217) to Dong Xuan intersection (National Highway 45 intersecting with National Highway 47), trucks over 3.5 tons are prohibited.

During the temporary operation phase, vehicles from Hanoi to the southern provinces will have to get off the highway from Dong Xuan intersection, connecting via National Highway 47 to go to National Highway 1A, Ho Chi Minh Road, and Nghi Son - Tho Xuan Road.
According to the Thang Long Project Management Board, the unit is installing signs and completing the traffic safety system. The board has coordinated with the Thanh Hoa Department of Transport and related units to divert traffic to limit traffic pressure on National Highway 47 and existing routes if congestion occurs.
The North-South Expressway, Mai Son - National Highway 45 section, is 63 km long, passing through Ninh Binh and Thanh Hoa provinces, with a total investment of more than 12,000 billion VND. Vehicles from Hanoi to Thanh Hoa can shorten the travel time to only 2 hours, instead of about 3 hours as at present.
