On the afternoon of May 26, the provinces of Ha Tinh, Quang Binh and Hue City continued to have heavy rain, some places had very heavy rain, with the risk of flash floods and landslides in mountainous areas.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, in the past 24 hours (from 1:00 p.m. on May 25 to 1:00 p.m. on May 26), the areas of Ha Tinh , Quang Binh and Hue City have had moderate rain, heavy rain, and some places have had very heavy rain, such as: Ky Phu 272.2mm, Mac Khe Lake 267.4mm (Ha Tinh); Tan My 107mm (Quang Binh); Hoa My Lake 185.6mm, Rao Trang Hydropower Plant 135.6mm (Hue City);... Soil moisture models show that some areas in the above provinces are nearly saturated (over 85%) or have reached a saturated state.
The meteorological agency said that in the afternoon and evening of May 26, the area of ​​the three provinces above will continue to have rain, with the following common rainfall: Ha Tinh from 20-40mm, some places over 60mm; Quang Binh and Hue City from 10-20mm, some places over 30mm.

Due to the impact of prolonged heavy rain, this afternoon and evening, many areas in these 3 localities are at risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes. Specifically: Cam Xuyen, Can Loc, Duc Tho, Huong Khe, Huong Son, Ky Anh, Thach Ha districts, Hong Linh town, Ky Anh town, Vu Quang (Ha Tinh); Bo Trach, Tuyen Hoa (Quang Binh); Phong Dien, Huong Tra town ( Hue city).
In response to the above weather developments, Mr. Nguyen Van Huong, Head of the Weather Forecast Department, National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, warned that flash floods and landslides can have very negative impacts on the environment, threaten people's lives; cause local traffic congestion, affect the movement of vehicles; destroy civil and economic works, causing damage to production, economic and social activities.
Meteorological experts recommend that local authorities affected by prolonged heavy rains pay attention to checking for blockages and vulnerable locations in the area to take preventive and response measures.
According to the guidance of the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment), in the face of the above situation, affected areas need to closely monitor developments of heavy rain, floods, inundation, flash floods, landslides, and promptly and fully inform authorities at all levels and people to proactively prevent, respond, and minimize damage.
Localities deploy shock forces to inspect and review residential areas along rivers, streams, and low-lying areas to proactively organize the relocation and evacuation of people in areas at high risk of deep flooding, flash floods, and landslides; organize forces ready to control and direct traffic, and place warning signs, especially through culverts, spillways, and areas with deep flooding and fast-flowing water; proactively arrange forces, materials, and means to overcome incidents, ensuring smooth traffic on main traffic routes when heavy rain occurs...
