Warning of unsafe conditions on ferries crossing the Dong Nai River

(DN) - Due to the lack of a bridge, many people traveling from Tri An commune, Dong Nai province to Thuong Tan commune, Ho Chi Minh City have to cross the Dong Nai river by ferry. However, it is worth mentioning that the ferry owners here are still subjective and do not implement safety measures according to regulations.

Although the authorities posted a sign at the ferry terminal advising passengers to wear life jackets, when passengers boarded the ferry, the ferry owner and the driver did not take any steps to remind them of this protection.

Because it is located at the river junction, the traffic of people and vehicles is quite heavy, so there are 2 ferries operating at the same time. In addition to the ferry going to Tri An commune through Thuong Tan commune, Ho Chi Minh City, there is also another ferry from Tri An commune to Trang Dai ward, Dong Nai province. According to the reporter's observation, most of the passengers as well as the drivers and service staff on the ferry do not have any protective measures, even though life jackets are placed at the end of the ferry.
