40m long bridge opens to traffic after two delays

Thua Thien - Hue Loi Nong Bridge is more than 40 meters long and 24 meters wide, invested with a budget of 100 billion VND, basically completed after nearly 6 years of construction, with two delays.

On the morning of March 19, many vehicles passed through Loi Nong Bridge over the river of the same name in An Dong Ward, Hue City. The construction unit has paved the bridge surface and completed the access roads on both sides of Ton Quang Phiet and Hai Trieu streets. The flower bed and lighting system is being urgently completed by workers.

A representative of the Thua Thien Hue Urban Development and Construction Investment Project Management Board said that there is still a household in the project that has not been relocated despite receiving compensation and drawing lots for resettlement land. It is expected that in April, Loi Nong bridge will complete its auxiliary works and be put into use.

Loi Nong Bridge was invested 32 billion VND, started construction in 2018 with a road surface design of 10 m wide, more than 40 m long, connecting two new urban areas An Cuu and Dong Nam Thuy An. The project is invested by the Urban Development Management Board of Thua Thien Hue province and is expected to be completed in 2020.

However, the project has just finished the rough part of the bridge and stone embankment and then stopped. The reason is that the design and project establishment are not suitable to reality, the approach roads at both ends of the bridge are not at the same level as Ton Quang Phiet and Hai Trieu streets, affecting traffic organization.

In 2020, the People's Council of Thua Thien Hue province increased the total investment of the project to 100 billion VND (an increase of 68 billion VND) from the local budget. Of which, the cost of compensation for site clearance increased by 24.7 billion VND, the expansion of the bridge deck according to the approved planning was nearly 34 billion VND and other construction investment costs.

According to the new design, Loi Nong Bridge is more than 40 meters long, the bridge width is expanded to 24 meters, below the dome-shaped girder frame, is a permanent structure made of reinforced concrete. According to the plan, the bridge will be completed in 2022.
