Quang Ninh CDC organized a training course on "Essential care for mothers and newborns during and immediately after birth and after cesarean section" for doctors, midwives, and nurses working at hospitals and health centers across the province.
At the grassroots level, maternal health care is given special attention. Every year, the rate of pregnant women receiving at least four prenatal check-ups during pregnancy has reached 91%, exceeding the planned target, demonstrating the continuous efforts of the health sector and the commune and ward health stations in ensuring examination and close monitoring of maternal health. 99.7% of mothers have chosen to give birth at medical facilities, thereby minimizing risks related to childbirth and almost completely eliminating maternal and infant deaths due to obstetric complications.
Along with that, child health care has also been promoted. The rate of children under six months old who are exclusively breastfed is 81%, while 85% of children are breastfed within the first hour after birth. This is one of the vital bases for building the initial immune system for children, reducing the risk of infection, allergies and supporting comprehensive physical and mental development. All 100% of commune, ward and town health stations in the area have implemented nutritional counseling for pregnant and lactating women, ensuring that mothers and children receive scientific nutrition knowledge right in the community.

The provincial health sector also launched a Vitamin A supplementation campaign. for children aged 6-35 months with an annual coverage rate of over 97%. Maintaining reserves and timely distribution of Vitamin A at the Provincial General Hospital and Bai Chay Hospital not only helps prevent blindness, but also improves children's resistance during seasonal epidemics.
Along with that, the industry also implemented the plan "Nutrition care in the first 1,000 days of life", according to the professional guidance of the Institute of Nutrition - Ministry of Health, which has been widely applied. Thereby, the commune health station system has flexibly integrated activities to guide and communicate about proper nutrition for pregnant women and young children, especially during the "Nutrition and Development Week" and "Micronutrient Day".
In parallel, growth monitoring and tracking for all children under 5 years old is organized twice a year, helping to detect early malnutrition, underweight and stunting for timely intervention.
Regarding human resources, in the first 3 months of 2025, the health sector organized 6 training courses on nutrition, improving professional capacity for 158 officials at the district and commune levels. Previously in 2024, the Provincial Women's Union coordinated with the Department of Health to organize 64 training courses on malnutrition prevention knowledge for the community, attracting 4,640 union members, propagandists and grassroots health workers. This is an important foundation for spreading knowledge about nutrition care and changing behavior in each family.

Not only stopping at medical expertise, communication and nutrition education for mothers and children have also been promoted. From 2024 to now, there have been more than 1,5007 direct propaganda sessions carried out, combined with broadcasting nearly 8,000 The news broadcast on commune and ward loudspeakers has helped tens of thousands of mothers and caregivers grasp a reasonable diet and a variety of foods available locally. In addition, the "For Community Health" program broadcast on television and radio has also contributed to creating a habit of learning and applying nutritional knowledge in the community.
The coordination between socio-political organizations also creates a combined strength. The Women's Union printed tens of thousands of leaflets promoting nutrition care in highland areas, and issued 480 books to monitor height and weight for children from 0 to 60 months old. Since 2024, the Farmers' Association has promoted child care, protection, and education to more than 170,000 members; the Labor Federation organized reproductive health care and nutrition programs for thousands of workers in industrial parks. All aim for a unified message: "Good nutrition is the source of sustainable development".
With the cooperation and coordination between sectors, localities and mass organizations, the system of care and protection of maternal and child health has become increasingly stronger; helping children start life with the best nutrition, all mothers have safe births, and community health is increasingly improved.
