This is the third year that Mr. Nguyen Van Quang's family, group 1, O Quy Ho ward, has been attached to the Israeli tomato variety. With 0.6 hectares of land for growing roses, Mr. Quang's family has boldly switched to growing tomatoes. At this time, the family's tomato garden has grown well, about 30 - 35 cm high, he is stretching the vines for the stems to climb and bear fruit.

Not only does it bring economic efficiency, the tomato growing model also creates jobs for many local workers. Mr. Ma A De, a Mong ethnic in Trung Chai commune, has been working in a tomato garden in O Quy Ho for 3 years. Mr. De said: Thanks to working with the tomato garden, I have learned more about plant care techniques, have a stable job and a good income.

The Israeli tomato growing model was tested in O Quy Ho 5 years ago. To date, 17 households have participated in growing tomatoes on a total area of 27 hectares. Tomatoes are planted from March and harvested from June to October. Tomatoes have large fruits, the plants climb high and the fruits usually ripen from the base to the top.

Growing Israeli tomatoes requires high techniques, requiring a greenhouse and careful stringing, but in return the yield and quality are outstanding. Each tree yields 8-10 kg of fruit, on average 1 hectare yields more than 10 tons of fruit. The selling price at the garden ranges from 10,000 - 20,000 VND/kg of fruit, much higher than that of regular tomato varieties. Israeli tomatoes are popular with consumers, so they are widely consumed and transported to many provinces and cities across the country.

In order for the new crop varieties to bring economic efficiency, the Farmers’ Association of O Quy Ho Ward has guided people in land improvement, greenhouse construction and care techniques; at the same time, supported output for agricultural products. The Israeli tomato variety is now not only a key crop but also shows a strong change in the development of farmers in the highlands of O Quy Ho.
