Owner of illegal slope construction fined 45 million VND

Lam Dong Mr. Tran Vinh Hoa, 50 years old, in Bao Loc City, was fined 45 million VND for illegally building a two-level slope 18 m high. The construction must be dismantled within 30 days.

The penalty decision issued by the People's Committee of Bao Loc City on the afternoon of July 6 determined that Mr. Hoa illegally built a two-level embankment about 18 meters high (each level is 8-9 meters high), 76 meters long, made of reinforced concrete in alley 377, Tran Phu Street, Loc Son Ward.

Today, Mr. Hoa mobilized three excavators and many workers to drill and chisel the retaining wall, the demolished concrete was loaded onto trucks to be transported away. Four households, with 14 people living in the houses below the slope, were relocated to temporary housing to ensure safety.

Mr. Hoa's slope was discovered after the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee requested localities to inspect construction works on steep slopes with risk of landslides, following a landslide that killed two people in Da Lat City on June 29.

Regarding the above-mentioned illegal construction, Mr. Tran Van Hieu, Chairman of Loc Son Ward People's Committee, was temporarily suspended from work for 15 days by Bao Loc City People's Committee due to lack of responsibility in managing construction order.
