Actively use electricity economically and efficiently

According to the Decision of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, officially from May 10, the average retail price of electricity was adjusted up by 4.8%, from 2,103.11 VND/kWh (excluding VAT) to 2,204.06 VND/kWh, an increase of 101 VND/kWh. In the face of rising electricity prices, many households and businesses have proactively implemented solutions to save and use electricity efficiently to minimize the impact of rising costs.

Officers and employees of Vinh Phuc Electricity Company propagate and guide effective electricity usage measures in the Electricity Saving Handbook to households, production and business establishments in the province.

With the new increase, according to calculations by Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN), for households using electricity for daily life, each household will pay an additional VND4,550 to more than VND65,050 per month, depending on the level of electricity usage. However, with the step-by-step pricing method, the more electricity is used, the higher the electricity price will be. Currently, the North is entering a hot season, and it is also the time when students are on summer vacation, the demand for electricity is high, the total cost of electricity will increase significantly, increasing the monthly living expenses of families.

Ms. Khong Thuy Dung, Van Cat urban area, Tich Son ward (Vinh Yen) said: "Along with using electricity for lighting and daily activities, my family also has a job producing black jelly and black jelly cakes, so the monthly electricity consumption is large, with an average cost of 2.5 million VND/month or more. In the summer months, the cost of electricity often increases by 20 - 30%. When the electricity price is adjusted to increase, this cost will continue to increase, but the selling price of jelly cannot increase immediately because high prices will make it difficult to sell".

In addition to the increased demand for electricity, the unreasonable installation and use of electrical equipment in households will cause electricity bills to increase. Through research, it is known that when the outdoor temperature increases by 1 degree Celsius, the amount of electricity consumed by cooling devices can increase by 3 - 6%. When the weather is hot, many households have the habit of using air conditioners but not fans; using many cooling devices at the same time during peak hours or turning the air conditioner on and off many times, setting the temperature at a low level (below 26 degrees Celsius); opening the refrigerator many times a day... All of these actions will consume more electricity, causing the electricity bill to increase, putting pressure on daily living expenses.

Electricity is an essential source of energy in daily life and in production and business. Therefore, when the "input" is adjusted to increase, it will lead to a series of increased costs, affecting people's consumption costs and business profits.

To overcome the grid overload and reduce the financial burden caused by high electricity bills, right from the beginning of summer, Vinh Phuc Electricity Company and electricity distribution and retail units in the province have recommended that people and businesses join hands to use electricity economically and effectively through specific actions such as turning off unnecessary electrical appliances; making the most of natural light and ventilation; designing and installing a reasonable general lighting system, reducing at least 50% of the amount of electricity used for general lighting in corridors, gardens, and fences; only using air conditioning when absolutely necessary and only setting the cooling mode to 26 degrees Celsius or higher; periodically checking and maintaining ventilation and heat pipes to avoid power loss;...

For households, it is recommended to replace old, inefficient equipment with new products with advanced technology, reduce monthly electricity consumption and choose to buy equipment with energy labels from the Ministry of Industry and Trade , use smart electrical equipment to automatically turn off when not in use; use LED lights; unplug when not in use; use air conditioning when hot with fans...

For customers using electricity in production with high electricity consumption, the electricity industry always recommends that businesses arrange reasonable production plans, limit the operation of high-capacity electrical equipment during peak hours; invest, improve, and replace old, outdated, low-efficiency equipment with high-efficiency and energy-saving equipment; use energy monitoring and management tools to control and minimize electricity consumption...

Production establishments, service and trade businesses, office complexes and apartment buildings in the area must reduce 50% of advertising and outdoor decoration lighting capacity during peak hours when notified by the local electricity authority...

Subordinate units proactively regulate load, strictly control meter reading and electricity bill issuance, avoid errors due to subjective errors; strengthen guidance for customers to proactively look up and use electricity estimation tools...
